Games from the dearly beloved game series have finally made an official appearance on PC (March 30th, 2021) which has been long awaited by fans of the franchise. Originally being released on PlayStation 2, the series has taken a long journey with the games being released across various consoles like the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and more! Although they were playable on PC through the use of emulators, it has now become possible to buy them and play an official version released by the developers.

The games: Kingdom Hearts 1 and Kingdom Hearts 2 Remix editions, Kingdom Hearts 3, and the rhythm game Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory were at first released on the Epic Games Store (EGS) platform (known for games like Fortnite, Rocket League and Sifu). However, like many other games released exclusively on EGS, such as Borderlands 3, Control and Metro Exodus, were later available elsewhere, such as Steam.

The EGS exclusive release was rather controversial, as many gamers are against the company for their practices of securing exclusivity for popular game releases, as well as their marketing tactics of frequently giving away free games on their platform. As a result, there have been a number of gamers who have boycotted buying games on the EGS store, or even using the platform at all. EGS has a dedicated subreddit forum with almost 39 thousand followers who post negative news involving the company as well as posts you might call “hate posts”.

Fans across different online platforms such as Reddit and Steam discussion forums have mentioned waiting patiently for an announcement from Square Enix, the games series publisher. As the 1 year exclusivity period to EGS has now ended since March this year, there is high speculation that the games will soon come to the more popular PC gaming platform, Steam.

Another thing that needs to be taken into account with the potential release on Steam, is that it will hopefully be tested and ready to be played on the Steam Deck, which is the new gaming console from Valve, the creators of Steam. The rollout of the “console” is still taking place, with orders being backordered through 2023. Whilst the appearance and usage is that of a gaming console similar to the Nintendo Switch, it is in fact basically a compact computer which uses the Linux operating system.

What the hell is a Gex?

Gex. We all remember Gex right? No. no you dont. No-one remembers gex. It was a series of 3D platformers on the 3DO, PSX and the Sega Saturn, and given no-one remembers Gex, I highly doubt anyone remembers the Sega Saturn or, more so, the 3DO.

Gex was about a lizard called Gex, who was obsessed with TV and one day gets sucked into TV land… I think. Look I have never actually played Gex, I have 2 and 3 Ripped and ready to emulate in Duckstation, and the original is available on PC through GOG but I just haven’t gotten around to them yet. They are notoriously dated, relying on pop culture references for their humor and so haven’t aged as cleanly as other 3d platformers of the Era.

In any case, the reason we bring up Gex today is that people have discovered a demo for a previously unannounced and unknown Gex game, Gex Jr. The demo is available on archive.org and can be run in any PSX emulator (although how well it will run is questionable, this is an unreleased demo that we where never meant to have). A playthrough has also been posted to youtube by Justz00t.

According to the user who originally posted the demo, it was found on a CD-R dated to around January 2001. This probably never came out because… 2001 the PS2 was kicking off an interest in the PSX was dying off. Plus, the Gex franchise was never too successful anyway.

And it sure is more Gex. More dated pop culture references, including “I am your father, Luke”, and many more across the short 31 seconds of gameplay.

As of last year, the rights to the Gex series in European territories where re-acquired by Square-Enix, although what will come of this, if anything, is yet to be seen. And being real, do we really want more Gex? The games are pretty good but even if there is a new game that uses more up-to-date pop culture references… in 10 years time those will just be as dated as the ones in the original.

The post A demo for a new Gex game has appeared first appeared on Get2Gaming.

Whats better than playing video games? Buying overpriced pieces of plastic based on video games. I love merchandise. Right now as of writing I can look around my room and wherever I look I am reminded that my parents are disappointed in me.

One of the best types of collectables, especially for properties that feature Mecha or Giant Robots is the Model kit. Popularized by bandai’s Gunpla Line (that’s Gundam Plastic Model kits, Gun-Pla) which took the Iconic robots from the hit gundam animes and shot them out in 1/144 scale kits that you have to build yourself, since then most franchises have had *some* form of model kit representation.

The most recent to join this fray is Square Enix, who are putting out a kit of the flight Unit from 2016’s surprise hit Nier: Automata. Surprise hit because what the hell is a drakengard? Nier automata was a game that really shouldn’t have done well. The rest of director Yoko Taro’s games in the drakengard/Nier franchise had not done well, in part due to the development team… not being too great. These games had cult appeal, sure, and a dedicated fanbase, but I don’t think anyone was expecting Automata to be as big as it was. Then again, the old developers, Cavia, were out for this one, and replacing them were action game legends Platinum games, best known for the bayonetta franchise.

The game came out and was an instant classic, reviving interest in the series and allowing for the recent remake of the original Neir Replicant. Alongside this was a tone of merchandise, because… well I would love to say it was because the characters are just cool, but being real its probably because most people want Protagonist 2B to step on them. However one part of the series that has yet to get much is the flight units that are a part of the Shoot-Em-Up/Bullet hell sections of the game.

Now, Square has Released a Model kit for them. There are 2 variants, one for 2B and one for 9S, with 2b coming out in may and 9s in april. Now as far as I can tell this is being made in house by Squares Merchandise department, who i don’t *think* have a huge amount of experience in kits as compared to bandai, good smile company or kotobukiya, so maybe watch out a little.

Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian has just weighed in with his opinion about the concept of Play-To-Earn games. The highly successful entrepreneur has expressed his optimism of the possibility, and personally believes the huge change to the gaming world will happen in the not so distant future.

This should come as no surprise for those familiar with Ohanian, as the industry figure has recently turned his business attention to blockchain and crypto-related projects.In a latest episode of Where it Happens podcast, Ohanian referenced the potential uses of blockchain tech and what it could mean for the future of gaming.

“90% of people will not play a game unless they are being properly valued for that time,” Ohanian claimed in the podcast. “In five years, you will actually value your time properly, and instead of being harvested for advertisements, or being fleeced for dollars to buy stupid hammers you don’t actually own, you will be playing some on-chain equivalent game that will be just as fun, but you’ll actually earn value and you will be the harvester.”

Why Do Play-To-Earn Games Use Crypto?

Generally, Play-To-Earn games use Crypto Tokens instead of regular in-game currency as players can then exchange their in-game earnings for real-world currency. As a result, the exchange is kept simple and effective which allows everyone across the globe to get involved. One major example which uses this model is Axie Infinity, where people can buy and sell Axies for RONIN cryptocurrency.

However, it should be noted that this doesn’t come without its issues. According to a Business Insider report, Axie’s in-game economy is already stumbling into some trouble, as players returns from the game are shrinking over time because gamers cash out their earnings instead of investing them back into the game. This could cause trouble for the game economy’s sustainability, especially when considering the $300 buy-in minimum which may cause gamers to be even more hesitant.

Despite this, other industry figures still continue to show their interest in the concept. Studios such as Take-Two, EA and Square Enix all seem to be lining up in anticipation to get on board, making Ohanian’s comments seem very much possible. What’d do you all think on the issue? It looks like Marvel Avengers’ just got all that more interesting. After a disappointing two years which included an interesting Spider-Man DLC, online trolling and controversial XP boosts, it looks like Square Enix are trying to get fans back onside. More specifically, they’re targeting MCU lovers by including Hawkeye’s Civil War costume in the games latest update.

The game studio initially decided against having Jeremy Renners likeness for Clint Barton’s character model. Alternatively, they chose to only have the characters clothes change in Marvel Avengers between each MCU skin, with his shave head remaining. Fortunately, they’ve come to their senses at last and decided to add some hair to the model. Whilst shaved head Barton worked better than Endgame Barton, its perhaps best just to stick with what we know!

On the other hand, the issues with the game haven’t gone away just yet. The community seem to have problems with the game’s purchasable cosmetics that annoyingly get locked in the Marketplace store. This is because the newly announced MCU skin for Marvel’s Avengers seems to spell the start of a new transition for Square Enix’s economic strategy.

However, Marvel players will not be able to find this skin cosmetic in the marketplace like usual. They will have to open Shipments as a speciality item which is bought through game play rather credits. That’s a positive we suppose. Despite this, it seems Marvel have still managed to mess up again. Some keen-eyed gamers have noticed that the single sleeve Barton has in Civil war is on his left arm when in the film its on the right. Oh the controversy!

Thankfully, it looks like players will just be happy to have the outfit in the game with the right hairstyle. Let’s not get too ahead of ourselves after all! Forspoken is an upcoming action-adventure fantasy wherein you get the isekai treatment and “have” to find your way back to reality (oop, there goes gravity). It’s being developed by the folks at Luminous Productions, published by Square Enix.

Forspoken is currently set to release ‘early in 2022’, which is great to hear, considering the PS5 games library essentially just consists of the PS4 library, plus Returnal and Ratchet and Clank! Forspoken was initially announced under the working title ‘Project Athia’ in 2020 and is set to be the first non Final Fantasy IP from Square Enix in a long time. And when I say long, I don’t mean “long”, I mean 🎵LONG LOOOOOOOOOOOONG LOoooOOOoooNG🎵, followed by sensual trumpeting… It makes sense in context!

Forspoken has a very talented team behind it by the looks of things. Amy Hennig, head writer behind the Uncharted series, will be collaborating with Gary Whitta (Screenwriter for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story). The music composers for the game (Bear McCreary and Garry Schymann) are also behind the scores for God of War and Bioshock… Also, feel free to have a butcher’s round our store if you want to get The Bioshock Collection! Ella Balinksa, playing Frey, has also played in Charlie’s Angels and is confirmed to play a starring role in the upcoming 2022 show ‘Resident Evil: Welcome to New Raccoon City’.

Compared to the previous trailers and gameplay V-Slices, this current gameplay is… Substantially less aesthetically pleasing, to put it mildly. But at the same time, I’m also a firm believer in ‘I’m not ugly, I just reduce graphics to improve performance’, so who am I to judge? Besides the looks department (which, outside of this current footage, looks smooth as a marble scultpure of Bloodsport-era Van-Damme’s booty), the traversal looks suitably fast-paced and the combat magic suitably weighty. You could make the case that the player is actually so agile, that boss fights and healing in most cases may be too easy, so I’m looking forward to seeing how the late-game obstacles rise the difficulty curve.

Forspoken will be released for PC and PlayStation 5 on May 24, 2022. The game will be a PS5 console exclusive for approximately two years.

Final Fantasy 14 has a new update inbound. With its arrival many of the skills currently available will be cycled out and replaced. All of the playable jobs will have brand new spells and abilities to switch things up. In tribute to those skills being retired,  Redditor Thefleetingdream has made a video showcasing all the skills leaving the game in 6.0.

A Tribute to Final Fantasy’s Skill Changes

Endwalker will bring many changes to the current jobs in Final Fantasy 14 and how they play. Some will be changed more than others. Only half of the jobs will be losing some of their old abilities, whereas every job is getting new ones.

The video posted by Thefleetingdream goes through all of the skills, abilities, and spells being retired and showcases their animations. They made this video as a living chronicle of the abilities. After Endwalker’s launch this week, none of these abilities or animations will be available in game.

A Brief Idea of What’s Different

Only one or two talents are being deleted from classes like the White Mage and Samurai, usually because the abilities are no longer relevant or make use of mechanics that aren’t in the game anymore.

This includes the Samurai’s Open Eyes benefit when hit while Third Eye is active. Others, like the Black Mage, Astrologian, Monk, and Dragoon, have passive stance-like abilities built into their classes. In Final Fantasy 14, however, the Summoner is being entirely revamped, with more than a dozen of their skills being removed.

This isn’t the first time job actions have been deleted from Final Fantasy 14; every expansion has seen adjustments to the fighting system, which usually include some abilities being removed.

Many of these talents, especially combat stances like the FF14 Black Mage’s Enochian and Dragoon’s Blood of the Dragon, are not missed by players because it means one less thing to remember during intense boss encounters.

Sad to See You Go

Final Fantasy 14 does an excellent job of balancing jobs, thus these modifications are welcome in order to keep the classes interesting, fresh, and competitive.

However, some players are disappointed that some of these job abilities are leaving the game as well as the animations being phased out. particularly the animations, are being phased out. The previous removal of abilities in Final Fantasy 14 resulted in the removal of numerous amazing and iconic animations, such as the FF14 Dark Knight’s Power Slash, the Dragoon’s Ring of Thorns, and the Bard’s Wide Volley.

While it’s unfortunate that the blue Blood of the Dragon aura and the Ninja’s Shadow Fang animations have been added to the ever-growing graveyard, it’s possible that Final Fantasy 14 will bring them back in the future.

Life is Strange: True Colors was released earlier this year on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Stadia, yet developer Deck Nine had to sadly reveal the Nintendo port would not be ready in time.

Yet now the time has come and fans can be expecting Life is Strange: True Colors very soon.

Life is Strange: True Colors Nintendo Release

Life is Strange: True Colors is a supernatural graphic adventure game set in between the events of Life is Strange series and Life is Strange 2, yet follows a separate storyline so you do not need to have played the Life is Strange series before playing it.

The plot of Life is Strange: True Colors follows Alex Chen, a young woman who can experience the emotions of others, as she tries to solve the mystery behind her brother’s death.

Nintendo Switch owners can expect Life is Strange: True Colors to arrive digitally on December 7, with the physical cartridge to be available to purchase on February 25, 2022.

As an extra bonus for its fans, Square Enix also collaborated with Lo-Fi musicians to create a Lo-Fi playlist when playing Life is Strange: True Colors- or if you’re just in the mood to listen to Lo-Fi music. You can read more about it here.

Square Enix also had to announce its remaster of Life is Strange would be delayed until early 2022, yet players that bought True Colors will still have access to Life is Strange: Remastered Collection when it finally arrives.

Life is Strange: True Colors is out on Nintendo Switch digitally on December 7 and physically on February 25, 2022.

Marvel Avengers forthcoming Spider-Man DLC will unfortunately not include any story missions, it has now been revealed. Previously, we have seen the likes of Black Panther, Kate Bishop and Hawkeye receive their own levels to fight, but it looks like that won’t be the case with our favourite wall-crawler.

Many fans assumed that Spider-Man would receive the same treatment as any other DLC, because that’s what we were essentially told. This is what the games senior producer, Dan Matlack, said during an announcement on the game’s Discord in September.

“Spider-Man is what we call an ‘event’ so he will have cut scenes and a story for sure”.

Unsurprisingly, some took that to mean that would be accompanied with story missions. However, Avengers gameplay director Phillippe Therien has confirmed that is not the case.

Instead of a short campaign with new missions, the web-slingers story will be displayed through audio logs and illustrated cut scenes. These will be unlocked by completing new Avengers multiplayer challenges. Check out this game play clip below which explains the DLC in further detail:

Spider-Man Hoping To Save Avengers Game

The delayed and PlayStation-exclusive superhero will finally arrive on PS4 and PS5 come November 30. Can he be the superhero to save the Avengers from their miserable fate?

Spidey won’t be arriving alone when we finally get to play as him either. Accompanied by a new Hero Event called With Great Power, he will team up with Ms. Marvel and Black Widow to try stop an AIM plan. Despite working in a team, he will apparently be debating whether he prefers working alone or not.

Despite the fact the Spider-Man content is a PlayStation exclusive, it has been revealed the game’s 2.2 patch will include content available on all formats. As a result, we will be presented with a Klaw Raid which takes place after the events of the War for Wakanda expansion.

“We want to spend our efforts on content that everyone can enjoy, so we chose to spend a lot of our energy on the Klaw raid that’s coming up at the same time,” Crystal Dynamics’ Therien said.

“Really that’s a simple decision for us. Spider-Man can play all the content, but then we release a piece of content that’s good on all platforms. Really that was a decision that’s been that way since the beginning,” he claimed.

Hopefully, the introduction of Spider-man will help the game escape recent controversy. It’s lifespan so far has been extremely lacklustre, resulting in poor critic responses and fan trolling. They’ve hardly helped themselves, especially with the addition of paid XP boosters, which they were forced to subsequently remove.

It comes at a difficult time for the games developers, who admitted that  Crystal Dynamics was potentially a bad fit for Marvel’s Avengers given its lack of experience with the games as a service model. We just hope they can deliver a somewhat satisfying Spider-Man experience. It doesn’t have to be perfect, just an enjoyable wall-crawling adventure.

The post Avengers SpiderMan Won’t Include Story Missions first appeared on Get2Gaming.

In Outriders, humanity searches for a new home on the alien planet Enoch, but it turns out to be more dangerous than they’d expected. Though Outriders initially had mixed reviews when it first came out, it has gained support from its player base, and People Can Fly updated it to fix problems and improve the gameplay.

The game recently received a new update – New Horizons – which added a plethora of content to the game.

In addition to the four new Expeditions, the massive free update introduces a new transmog system and removes timers from Expeditions. This means that you can earn rewards no matter how long your missions take.

Alongside all the extra content, the developers have also fixed a whole bunch of bugs and issues that were still prevalent within the game. They also added new weapon skins, general balancing issues with Classes, Mods and Skills. Tiago has also received an overhaul to his store too.

With the free New Horizon update, players can explore previously unexplored areas of Enoch with four brand-new “massive” Expeditions. Each mini-story connects to the characters and events of the Outriders’ main plot.

All players, including those new to the game, can start the first expedition. At CT4, CT8, and CT12, the others will be unlocked one by one. Furthermore, Expedition Timers have been removed to help players complete the new content – and make the most of the existing Expeditions – so they will receive the reward regardless of how long it takes them to complete the task.

Outriders New Expeditions

The four new Expeditions in Outriders are:

Molten Depths will send you back to Eagle Peaks. Dunham discovered a hidden power station after a drop pod signal was activated. She needs you to clear out any unwanted tenants from the station before it can be put back online, no matter what size, shape, or form they take.

The City of Nomads will confront you with a character, who is haunted by the sins of his past. Despite his dark past, you decide to help him protect the old Pax village Uketu Atarah.

In The Marshal’s Complex, Corrigan, the great grand marshal himself asks you to reclaim a facility near Deadrock Pass, taken by insurgents. After exploring this facility for a short time, you’ll discover that it is anything but a typical insurgent camp.

The Wellspring. Tiago told you about the Pax legend of a sacred place called Atuma ih Taru, where pilgrims would take long travels to sacrifice their treasures into deep wells. There is a tremendous storm that is getting stronger and stronger as you and your team look for these forgotten treasures.

We don’t yet know whether or not all this new content will be enough to draw players back in time for the release of the Wordslayer expansion, however it does bring many welcome changes and fixes to the existing player-base.
