FromSoftware has hidden interesting secrets in OOB (that’s gamer-lingo for ‘Out of Bounds’ to you and me) game areas. Rumblings of an Elden Ring PVP DLC arriving have surfaced thanks to an OOB exploration video of Elden Ring by one Lance McDonald, trusted data-miner (and Professional Farmer Knight based on name alone)!

While no extra content has been officially announced yet, this Colosseum could alternatively be part of an upcoming DLC extension or just generally be a half-made asset left on the cutting room floor to save time. Like, there was probably some obscure as hell in-game text reference to Hogthar The Pot-Clopper being linked to a Colosseum and there was some ungodly debate among the devs whether or not there’d physically be enough space on the disk to explore the intricacies of his character with essay-long item descriptions as far as the eye could see… I’m exaggerating, but not by much!

As you know, I’m just as into teamwork and the Hashtag Power of Friendship UwU just as much as the thought of clobbering fools in the free marketplace of ideas… And by free marketplace, I mean £50-quid action game, and by ideas, I mean increasingly phallic and oversized weapons of intergalactic destruction.

Which is to say, Elden Ring already features both co-operative PVE (player vs environment/bosses) gameplay AND competitive combat modes, including the more standard “player invasions” for all you heathens, or you can partake in ‘Duel Invitations’ if you’d rather comb your handlebar mustache and wax poetic about how you studied the blade.

Good morrow knavlings! Elden Ring and Souls games in general have a wealth of influences about them from mythology to manga, but now seems to be the series’ first crack at a cheeky Star Wars reference.

Not only can you make a Darth Maul build here, but you can also take to the battlefield with a certain set of fist-claws eerily similar to everyone’s favorite Canadian X-Man.

Elden Ring has a variety of spells and classes you can fiddle about with to find what works for you. For the Darth Maul experience, you’ll need to look for the Twinblade and unlock the bloodflame blade ability. Once you have both, all you’ll have to do from there is put the lime in the coconut and drink em both up. Then boom, you have an in-universe lightsaber! Thanks to Professional Redditteer u/Night_Parad0x for being the first or among the first to post the results.

So I found out that using the Twinblade + Bloodflame Blade basically makes you into Darth Maul. from Eldenring

Style or Substance? The weapon-spell combination seems an effective one, mainly for DPS combat builds.It takes a lot of your stamina while active, but dishes out a lot of damage, so specializing in this early-game would basically make you a glass canon. So honestly?  A little bit of both. Plus the character creator gives you plenty of options to lean hard into the roleplaying as a true sith lord. Speaking of Sith, you can find out how to get early-game lighting powers right here!

Okay Joseph Stalling, how do I get it? First you have a gander round the middle of Agheel Lake, right by the Dragon-Burnt Ruins… Still not as cool-sounding as Avatar’s “DRAGON BONE CATACOMBS” but I’ll take it. Get to the building without an entry point, yoink yourself over the wall with your trusty steed and ey-presto, the twinblades should be chilling in a basement chest. There’s also an optional dragon boss in that area, but you’re a strapping lad with some pep in your step, I’m sure you’ll manage!

For Fighting Flame Wars: You can get the Bloodflame Blade spell by killing a Teardrop Scarab in Liurnia of the Lakes, which you can fast-travel to once you find it! There are a couple scarabs out there, so if you end up vibe-checking the wrong one, just channel your inner Wild Hunt and you’ll have the skill in no time.

Elden Ring is one of the year’s most anticipated games. From Software has grown extensively over the last few years and has become one of the most well-known developers in the industry today, so it’s likely the game will receive good reviews and feedback from fans. The latest trailer gives us a gameplay overview of the new title, and gives us an insight into what to expect from Elden Ring.

The video starts by presenting players to Elden Ring’s narrative. It explains that players take control of a distant ancestor of The Tarnished, a cohort of exiled heroes.  Then  the mysterious world is unveiled  and shows the powerful threats who inhabit these lands. It also mentions Elden Ring’s dungeons and how they vary from the overworld.

Elden Ring, as seen in the trailer, places a strong emphasis on exploration and player freedom, and the video also provides an overview of some classes. Elden Ring also allows the player to use a variety of skills and equipment, allowing them to create their own custom and unique builds. The trailer, then briefly highlights the crafting system in the game. Later, the multiplayer component of Elden Ring is shown with the return of jolly co-operation and PvP invasions.

This latest teaser does an outstanding job of introducing gamers to Elden Ring’s universe. The game appears to be loaded with features and will have a lot of diversity in its combat design, while also adding many quality-of-life adjustments that are sometimes lacking in other games in this genre. Elden Ring looks more impressive with each demonstration, and all signs point to From Software successfully integrating Dark Souls mechanics into an open-world game.

Elden Ring was co-created by From Software and George R. R. Martin, and the world is supposed to be rich in lore. Sadly,  Elden Ring spoilers have popped up online, with more leaks and videos likely to emerge before the game’s release. Bandai Namco has since taken them down, but it would be impossible to stop all leaks at this point. Just be wary if you are someone who wants to enjoy the story for themselves!

In the lead up to the release of Elden Ring, From Software has announced the necessary specs to run the game on PC. They appear to put a lot of strain on the player’s hardware. If the specifications are any indication, the game will be more  hardware intense  than some FromSoftware’s previous PC releases.

Elden Ring is a significant improvement over the studio’s previous efforts, such as Dark Souls and Bloodborne. Whereas previous From Software titles take on a more linear, Metroidvania-style exploration system with tight and often small-scale levels, Elden Ring features a massive open-world for players to explore however they see fit with many smaller dungeons scattered throughout.

According to the announcement, players will need at least 12 GB of RAM to run the game, with 16 GB being the obvious sweet spot for everything to run smoothly. The GPU requirement is far more intriguing, as the GTX 1060 (with 3 GB of VRAM) is listed as the minimum required to play Elden Ring, while the GTX 1070 is listed as the recommended option.

The relatively minor difference between the minimum and recommended PC graphics card requirements could indicate that the game doesn’t visually scale all that much and that any newer mid-range GPU should have no trouble running it. Elden Ring’s system requirements are vastly more demanding than Dark Souls 3′ for example.

When in doubt, insult one out! Click here for my last “explained in insults” homage blog on Elden Ring gameplay tips. Now without further ado, call me a policeman getting railed by David Cameron, because you’re about to experience roasting that’s only been reserved for the spit until now!

Now, I know, boo hoo, my blogs don’t have videos embedded- TOUGH TITTY MASERATI, sometimes we can’t have nice things, so click here for the Elden Ring story trailer shown at The Game Awards or carry on reading like the meek little bookworm you are! And because some of you have memory spans short enough to make Dory feel cocky, feel free to check our coverage of the Elden Ring 19-Minute gameplay reveal if you’re so inclined. Good? Good!

Port Won: Contex: Elden Ring will be dropping February 25th 2022, but if- no, you WANT to get the pre-order copies we have here at Go2Games if you want to get at the game with a couple handy-dandy extras. And lo and behold, I’ve got a blog on the different Elden Ring Pre-Order bonuses too!

Now for the story: The world and lore was largely made by George RR Martin, so imagine my shock at the primary Elden Ring setting being the creatively named “Lands Between”… LANDS BETWEEN WHAT GEORGE? Cleavage? Gatwick Airport? The British Isles? AQUAMAN!? We’ll find out during the game.

Now, to heavily paraphrase the story trailer’s narrator:

“Bruuh, like, there was these thieves. And they took the death rune. And like, I need my runes man. Like. This is like, a particular strand of death rune I’m not allergic to man. So like. If you could get it for me? That’d be great? And maybe some burgers, fried chicken, a pizza, and fix The Titular Elden Ring to prevent the fall of our society and pantheon of Gods, like, only if you’re cool with that” – The Narrator.

Also, the game’s opening NPCs really like poking fun at how you don’t have a catgirl maid waiting on you hand and foot… At least, that’s what I think “Maidenless” means, but who cares! No VaatiVidya lore analysis till you can do 50 parries with your knuckles!

I hope that Titular Elden Ring stays broken if only because I can imagine where some of you will put it, and probably not on your finger!

And FromSoftware, please try not to have such mean NPCs poking fun at the player… I mean, that’s MY job!

The Golden Joystick Awards has been established since 1983, making them one of the industry’s oldest video game awards.

Since then, games like Sonic the Hedgehog, Super Mario 64, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild have all had their time in the spotlight.

The winners of this years Golden Joystick Awards 2021 has been announced. There was an additional category this year however, with an unsurprising candidate winning the award

Dark Souls is a ten-year-old game, but its influence on the gaming community and the wider industry is undeniable. While Demon Souls was the first of the iteration in the “Souls” series, it can be said that Dark Souls in 2011 led to the franchise becoming immensely popular.

The controller smashing-ly frustrating franchise was able to pocket the highly esteemed accolade of Ultimate Game of All Time thanks to the Golden Joystick Awards being a “people’s choice” award that is totally voted on by fans.

The Ultimate Game of All Time Award was added to the Golden Joystick celebrations this year to commemorate 50 years of gaming, alongside the Ultimate Hardware of All Time Award, which went to PC.

Miyezaki’s Comments on Winning

Dark Souls director Hidetaka Miyazaki stated he was “deeply moved by the award” in a Twitter post and article published by Yahoo Japan (according to Google Translate).

Miyazaki stated that the fact that fans voted for his game out of all the nominations truly amazes him. He praised everyone at FromSoftware and Bandai Namco Entertainment for their continued support, as well as the fans.

Dark Souls is renowned for its difficulty, but completing it definitely feels rewarding. It truly tests your skills as you master the games mechanics in a well-designed world, encountering memorable NPCs and defeating incredible bosses, each with their own tale. It has only continued to become popular over time, so much so that it has major influence over a whole variety of inspired games.

Other Honourable Mentions at the Golden Joystick Awards

In terms of votes, there were a few more games that were close behind Dark Souls. The winner garnered 12% of the vote, although Doom from 1993 received 11% and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild received 10%.

The Last of Us, Minecraft, Street Fighter 2, Tetris, and Halo: Combat Evolved were also nominated since they are widely regarded as among the best video games of all time.

Dark Souls can forever be remembered as the winner of the Golden Joystick Awards Ultimate Game of All Time, even though it was a close call. Many of the team who worked on Dark Souls are now working on Elden Ring, so hopefully the game will live up to its standards!

The closed network test for Elden Ring went live recently and an abundance of footage has surfaced displaying various aspects of the game. FromSoftware has packed the network test with a whole load of content that gives insight into the ways that Elden Ring sets itself aside from its counterparts in the Souls series.

The Open World in Elden Ring; The Lands Between

One of the key departures from the Souls formula is that Elden Ring is much more open world. The open world in Elden Ring looks beautiful. The Lands Between are incredibly well crafted and detail rich, and this is only the closed network test. This makes me wonder how much more expansive the world will be in the full game. The enemy and environment design in this game is wonderful.

After meeting the Maiden and acquiring your horse, the map opens to you and you are free to explore. There is lots to explore outside of the main path. The map is filled with camps, dungeons, caves, and a variety of other overworld events. The rewards for all of them seem worthwhile and FromSoft have managed to avoid the trap open-world games tend to fall in to of having expansive yet empty worlds.

Instead, there is an abundance of secrets to find in varying forms, which FromSoftware have always managed to implement well in their games. Even more impressive is how they have implemented this design philosophy into Elden Ring’s open world. The classic level design that FromSoftware are known for is present throughout.

Camps and Settlements

The enemy camps act like small settlements that you must take out. This is where the game’s stealth system is best utilised, as it allows you to sneak around and take soldiers out one by one or else you risk alerting the entire camp. The game rewards you with replenished resources after clearing out large groups of enemies, so you can keep exploring without having to return to a Site of Grace every 2 minutes to restock. This is a nice touch.

One detail that really stood out to me is how the bosses will have an impact on the surrounding areas. An early boss will destroy parts of a cathedral to pursue you. The dragon seen in the gameplay preview will destroy trees and burn them away if they are caught in the flames. Little touches like this show that these hulking behemoths have an affect on the world too which makes the game feel more dynamic.

Crafting in Elden Ring

The crafting system in-game encourages you to explore and collect the various materials located in the world to craft items that will help you in your journey. This acts as a good incentive to explore and make use of the items you find. Instead of relying on drops or merchants to sell you consumables, they may be created using recipes and naturally occurring materials. Expect to collect flowers, look for animals, and buy stoneware to bake your balms and explosives in.

Oh and last but not least, you can fast travel from anywhere on the map to a Site of Grace, so long as you’re not in a dungeon.

The Closed Network test for Elden Ring has demonstrated how the game’s combat  functions as well as the many trials and challenges that players will face as the Tarnished. There is still a lot of familiarity and despite its differences, Elden Ring still looks very much like a Souls game in the way that the combat behaves.

Classes In the Elden Ring Network Test

The network test opens with you choosing your class. The game gives you the choice between 5. Each has its own stat distribution, beginning weaponry, and a new magic-based ability called Ashes of War.  The Full launch of the game will see a total of 10 classes, that may vary in name and starting equipment from the ones available during pre-release.

Enchanted Knight is a Sorcery-using Class with the strongest Shield and the ability to take down opponents from range with Spells.

Prophet has one of the most powerful Spells in Beast Claw, making it one of the easiest Classes to play if you space yourself well.

Bloody Wolf is an excellent Class for individuals who are familiar with Souls games and enjoy using large weapons.

Champion is very effective due to the Dragonfire Incantation, which has an Area of Effect that can be used to take down large groups of opponents at once.

Warrior is a Dexterity-based Class that can be difficult to utilise, but is an excellent choice for Archers.

These classes may be likely to change in the full game however, as well as the addition of more to choose from.

Combat Mechanics in Elden Ring

From Software enthusiasts should be familiar with the fundamental combat components of the Closed Network Test, and probably Elden Ring as a whole.  R1 oversees the faster light strike, while R2 is in charge of the slower but more devastating heavy attack. Most weapons also have a charged heavy attack for when the situation calls for it, but landing one is no simple task.

Players will have access to somewhat diverse playstyles depending on their weapon and class. They may either wait out  opponent strikes and go for heavy damage with slow-moving weapons, or they can go in fast with lighter weapons before darting back out of danger. Precision and timing are still vital in Elden Ring, and any mistake can be punished with an untimely end.

Stance Breaking, Stealth and Jump Attacks

You can break an enemy’s stance in this game, similar to the way you would in Sekiro – Shadows Die Twice. You do this through jump attacks, or with charged heavy attacks.

Another similarity to Sekiro is the game’s stealth mechanic. You can now crouch to sneak around and avoid enemies or get the jump on them. This looks a lot more natural than trying to creep past enemies in Dark Souls games. There are also incredibly powerful arrows that put enemies to sleep, allowing you to sneak up on them and perform a finishing blow.

A new mechanic added to the game is the Guard Counter system. Essentially, this is a well timed heavy attack after blocking an opponent’s strike that makes it easy to break an enemy’s stance. This new feature allows for more defensive playstyles.

One of the biggest additions to Elden Ring is combat from horseback. The controls sound simple and effective, with L1 an R1 controlling light attacks left and right respectively and L2 and R2 controlling the heavy swings. The heavy swings on horseback act as 2-part attacks. You can cast magic and shoot arrows from horseback and it all looks very smooth. Be careful not to get knocked from horseback however, as this leaves you extremely vulnerable.

Although its still early to say, and the game is still being tested, at this point in time the Ashes of War abilities seem incredibly powerful when utilised correctly. They are essentially the weapon art mechanic from Dark Souls 3.

Ashes of War operate as special attacks each with their own unique ability. They have an accompanying FP (Focus Points) cost. As they beat opponents in the game, players will get additional Ashes of War, which may then be mounted on a certain weapon type. This means you can customise the Ash of War assigned to a weapon, which will lead to lots of diversity in combat styles. They also affect the type of scaling associated with the weapon.

Spells, Miracles and Summoning

Magic functions pretty like how it did in Dark Souls 3. You have Spells and Miracles, which scale with Intelligence and Faith respectively. You can charge magic by holding the cast button for the same FP cost, and some can be cast multiple times in a row to fire them quickly. Elden Ring seems to provide more offensive options than ever when it comes to Faith too, as miracles have usually been quite restrictive in the past.

The Spirit Summon mechanic is also controlled by magic. Ashes, which can be acquired from merchants, allow you to summon wolves, sword-wielding skeletons, and undead magic users to aid you in combat.

These summons can only be called upon when you are close to a Rebirth Monument.  An icon will appear that on screen notifies you that you can summon. Conveniently these monuments are usually placed by big groups of enemies, so you can use them to draw aggro and take the pressure off.

While much of it seems very similar, Elden Ring’s combat looks like a perfect mix of the best parts from all entries into the Soulsborne series. FromSoftware have taken fan-favourite mechanics from the past and refined them as well as adding new features too. They have done this and created what looks to be one of the smoothest Souls combat experiences to date.

The post Elden Ring Combat Remniscent of Dark Souls but Still Fresh first appeared on Get2Gaming.

Considering the Elden Ring resolution and performance info, the pre-order bonuses (wink wink, nudge nudge, got em here), the 20 minute gameplay preview and the confirmed February 25th release date, it’s been a good month for Elden Ring hype lately!

The good folks at FromSoftware have released some pre-release tips and tricks for stealth and combat, but I’m an artiste, I fancy myself a bit of an auteur at the best of times and in the words of legendary director Tuentin Quarantino, “good artists steal”! So in a loving homage to Windette (a favourite YouTuber you may remember from my article on Gaming YouTubers), sit down and strap on for Elden Ring gameplay tips… Explained in Insults Edition!

Part Won… The Plot- It must be your lucky day because Elden Ring has implemented a crouching mechanic for stealth purposes, but let’s not mince words, that thing might as well be renamed The Never Finding Titanite foundation, or NFT’s for short– MUCH LIKE YOUR PEEN! And thank goodness I don’t have to handhold you throughout the open world because even the developers predicted how your namby pamby booter patooter needs “Grace’s Guidance”, a Ghost of Tsushima-style way of nudging the player in the right direction.

These rays of sunshine will help direct you to Sites of Grace, the in-game equivalent to bonfires and resting spots you use to recoup your health. If the Elden Ring preview’s anything to go by, majestic flame-beastial flighty f*ck-masters of galactic destruction CAN AND WILL be roaming the map looking for fresh (or in your case, soiled) meat! So rest when you find one and don’t be afraid to trek off the beaten path if your Tinybox-Tim-looking ass is getting handed to you one too many times. Good? Good!

Part Too… Stelf: Hiding in grass provides the one-two combonus of hiding you in plain sight from enemies AND increasing your damage for stealth kills from behind and above because any enemy that has to stare down your ugly mug before dying would probably come back to haunt your ass for revenge!

The Shattering tainted these lands with chaos. Even a traveler who follows the path of grace must be cunning and cautious in equal measures.

The fact that your extra Boss Gauntlet mode familiarity functions like the Elden Ring “Stake of Marika” statues that act as respawn points after boss battles is completely luck-based! Back in my day, we had to run up a mile-high winding staircase with arrows reducing our pelvic thrustal performance and by extension, having lost half a health bar before even beginning to sign the death waver for an ensuing boss fight!

Elden Ring  will release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Whilst we’re still over three months away from launch, Elden Ring has slowly been dropping updates about the games release. New details and information are being gradually given to us and fans just cannot wait. An example of this is the news of how big the game’s file size will be on the Xbox console.

The games page was recently updated on the Xbox Store which has given us these details. The Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One players will need approximately 50GB free of storage space, which isn’t too bad. FromSoftware’s upcoming RPG will be the developers largest one yet, with their other titles seeming to be significantly smaller. As Elden Ring is going to be an exciting open-world experience,  it shouldn’t really come as that much of a shock.

Recently, Bandai Namco also revealed full spec details for the game on all platforms, confirming 4K, 60 FPS, and ray-tracing support for the game on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. Check out below what else we know about the game, but first remind yourself of the trailer here:

Elden Ring: Release Date And Game play Features

Fans cant expect to get their hands upon Elden Ring in February 25, 2022. Despite its original release date being in January, FromSoftware decided to announce a short delay in October 2021. Nevertheless, at least it won’t be too long after like some other titles have been. This is what they had to say on the matter:

“The depth & strategic freedom of the game exceeded initial expectations. “Thank you for your trust & patience.”

We presume that this delay could be due to the fact they needed to add more features to the game. Here’s what we know about the game thus far:

• Open world: Elden Ring is an open world with six main areas to explore
• Jumping and riding: You can jump and fight on horseback
• Guard Counter: Attacking immediately after blocking, separate from Parrying
• World map: A drawn map where you can place your own markers
• Co-op: Co-op for up to four players is supported
• PvP: Invasions are in, but you may not be able to invade solo players
• Bonfires: Fast travel and resting are back, now called Sites of Lost Grace
• Bloodstains: These are back too, for laughing at the mistakes of strangers
