EA have apologised for the latest scandal which has effected many FIFA players recently. A number of infamous streamers and Ultimate Team traders have had their accounts compromised in recent weeks, which have then been emptied of coins and players. Yikes.

According to reports, by providing a Gamertag or PSN ID associated with an EA account, hackers were able to persuade EA Help live chat to hand over or change email addresses associated with the accounts. Therefore, they were able to reset the passwords and essentially strip the account of anything its worth.

As you can imagine, this is a pretty big deal in the FIFA community. As a FIFA player myself, I couldn’t think of anything worse in the game than arriving onto your account to see everything you’ve worked for gone. It’d be truly devastating.

Having investigated the issue, EA confirmed on Tuesday that “less than 50” accounts were taken over.

“Utilising threats and other ‘social engineering’ methods, individuals acting maliciously were able to exploit human error within our customer experience team and bypass two-factor authentication to gain access to other player accounts,” it said.

“We are currently working to identify rightful account owners to restore access to their accounts, and the content within, and players affected should expect a response from our team shortly. Our investigation is ongoing as we thoroughly examine every claim of a suspicious email change request and report of a compromised account”.

“There is always a human factor to account security and we know we must do better,” it added, before outlining three measures being taken to beef up security as a result of recent incidents.

EA Intend To Train Staff Better To Prevent Further Issues

After acknowledging the issue, EA will now have to fix it to make sure it doesn’t happen again. As a result, all staff who assist with EA Accounts will receive extra training, additional steps to the account ownership verification process will be added, and EA’s customer experience software will be updated with additional security features. These are things we like to hear.

Unfortunately, it will most likely come at a cost as EA said these actions may result in longer customer wait times.

“We’d like to apologize for the inconvenience and frustration that this has caused, and that we were unable to share additional details in our original communication last week as we conducted a thorough investigation. Thanks to the whole community for your patience as we continue to address the situation and take corrective actions.”

In all honesty though, who really minds? As long as our teams are safe, I personally think its all worth it. Just when the Premier League is starting to go a bit pear-shaped with COVID postponements, it looks like football fans are having to get their sporting fix another way. It has been revealed that FIFA 22 has topped the UK’s Christmas sales chart this festive period. What a success for EA!

It has to be noted that this only takes into account physical releases, but nevertheless it’s still an achievement the footballing title should be proud of. In what should be the busiest time of year for football in England, there seems to be a never ending list of cancelled fixtures and covid-related incidents which have marred what is many fans favourite time of the year.

As such, this could of had a great impact on the sales this time of year. However, FIFA does also tend to perform around this period too, so it shouldn’t really come as too much of a surprise, should it?

Additionally, in second place was the newest edition in the Call of Duty franchise- Call of Duty Vanguard. This was then followed by Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Spider-Man: Miles Morales, who were caught in a fierce battle as less than 200 sales separated the two. We wonder who could’ve made the difference in sales for that one (a certain celebrity comes to mind).

The new entries on the list were certainly not new titles when it comes to us having played them, but are both new releases it regards to these editions. If that’s confused you a bit, basically what I’m alluding to is the fact that the new additions are Among Us and Grand Theft Auto: The Definitive Edition. Both have received new versions this year, which look to be doing well. However, it should be acknowledged that whilst GTA sales seem to be fine, the game itself is struggling with a variety of issues.

You get a free wonderkid for your Ultimate Team just by playing the game!

EA has just announced a new FIFA 22 Ultimate Team promotion, Next Generation, in which anyone playing the game before January 14, 2022, will receive one of six possible wonderkid cards. All you have to do is play the game at least once before the cut-off point.

You will need to play FIFA 22 on either PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X (or S), PC or Stadia. Sadly, Next Generation players aren’t included in the Nintendo Switch version of FIFA 22.

Once you’ve qualified to earn a Next Generation item, EA says it will appear in your account “starting December 15”.

Next Generation is the second new campaign announced by EA in the space of a week, with FIFA 22 Numbers Up materialising last Friday – offering upgradeable cards for Bellingham’s team-mates Mats Hummels and Gio Reyna, along with Premier Leaguers such as Diogo Jota and Declan Rice.

As part of EA Sports’ NumbersUp promotion, EA has added a NumbersUp version of Everton player Anthony Gordon, which can be earned via Silver Stars objectives (i.e. for free, more or less).

The NumbersUp promo will upgrade a specific skill of players depending on which Adidas cleats they wear in real life. One of their skills will reach 99 by the end of the season.

The concept of Silver Stars consists of releasing boosted versions of silver cards in Ultimate Team. Silver Stars Gordon’s objectives will be available until next Wednesday, Nov. 24th.

EA greatly increased all of Gordon’s skills, including Defending (+20), Shooting (+11), Passing (+11), Physical (+10), Pace (+8), and his Defending (+5), when compared to his 67-rated silver version.

Like all the Silver Stars cards released before this one, Gordon’s objectives have to be completed in Live FUT Friendly: Silver Lounge matches. These Silver Stars cards are helpful to complete other objectives that require you to score or get an assist with a silver player, for example.

Football fans across the world will know how painful an international break can be. The long two weeks without any club football can leave you twiddling your thumbs, especially for England fans. Two games against Albania and San Marino are hardly going to get the hairs on the back of your neck up, are they? Thankfully, EA is here to save us.

It isn’t all doom and gloom. Not only is the return of the Premier League on the horizon this weekend, but FIFA players have just been treated to to what is arguably the best TOTW thus far. The international break has given us some stellar individual performances which have now materialised into some impressive inform cards. See, there is something good to come out of the international break after all.

For those unfamiliar with EA’s methods, here’s a quick explanation. Every week, FIFA creates a new version of a player who performed well in that particular week. The subsequent week these players will replaced with another set of cards, and the process continues. The cards are then either available to purchase through the FUT market, or by opening packs (if you’ve got luck on your side, that is).

Now that’s cleared up, take a look at TOTW 9 down below. We’ve got to say, there’s some cards in there we’re certainly eyeing up this week.

Kane And Mbappe Standout Players Of TOTW 9

As you can see, there are multiple players who look like they’ll be a fine addition to any Ultimate team. Former Liverpool man Shaqiri has impressive dribbling stats here, and Watford winger Ismaila Sarr  will cause any FIFA defence  problems with his pace. However, there is quite clearly a duo of players who are head and shoulders above the rest. Of course, its Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe. Those two have inexplicably good stats which would frighten any FIFA player out there. Let’s have a quick look at their individual cards, and how they obtained them.

Firstly, it’s probably best to start with highest rated card on there-Mbappe himself. It’s no mystery how he worked himself into this TOTW, after scoring an incredible FOUR goals against Kazakhstan and producing a stunning solo effort against Finland. The FIFA cover star needs no introduction, and as if his original card wasn’t good enough already, well there’s going to be no chance stopping this man now when he gets going. Boasting a blistering 98 Pace and 93 dribbling, combined with an incredible 89 Shooting, well all you can really do when you come up against him now will be button-bash and pray.

However, anything Mbappe can do, Kane can do better, right? The England Captain managed to bag himself seven, yes SEVEN, goals this international break. A hat-trick against Albania at Wembley was quickly followed up by a four goal haul in San Marino, which means he’s now only five goals from equalling Wayne Rooney’s all time England goal scoring record.

Whilst neither team were the deadliest of foes, it certainly won’t hurt the Tottenham strikers confidence, which so far this season has been rock bottom. Additionally, that 92 Shooting stat will definitely give any FIFA player who has him the confidence to win any game. If players manage to get a strike partnership of him and Mbappe, well then we’re all doomed. Especially with all those cheaters out there!

The latest update brings more fixes for Career Mode and Volta Football.

FIFA 22’s latest title update, its third one to date, is now live on PC. Yet to be made available on console, the latest update brings fixes to rare gameplay bugs across the board. With the first two updates, the developer managed to fix some of the Ultimate Team and gameplay bugs.

Title Update 3 will save you from losing your Career Mode progression, a dangerous bug for players, triggering based on how you would exit from the game.

Also, the new update makes the Career Mode menu more accessible with a new shortcut option.

FIFA 22 Title Update 3 Patch Notes

Gameplay

Addressed issues:

• In a rare situation, the ball could be moved during a free-kick without play resuming for both sides.
• The referee did not call for a foul after the goalkeeper made illegal contact with the ball carrier in some situations.
• Addressed some stability issues that could occur during the 2nd half.
• Sometimes, goalkeepers were jumping too far forward when attempting to make a diving save.
  • These jumping animations did not affect a goalkeeper’s ability to make saves.
• In some instances, the referee incorrectly cancelled their advantage call, resulting in an unintended set piece.
• When playing as a locked player, the opposition’s defensive line could have continued following the locked player deep into their own half, even when it was not beneficial to do so.
• Own goals could have sometimes registered as a Shot On Target for the scoring side.

Career Mode

• Added a Change Team Sheet shortcut on the Training Hub, enabling the manager to quickly cycle between Team Sheets for Training Drills.
• When transferred to a new club in Player Career, Pros with an OVR of 86 and higher will immediately be a part of the starting XI.

Addressed issues:

• Career Mode progression could have been lost between play sessions depending on how the mode was exited.
  • When exiting Career Mode, the save pop up has been updated to have Save and Quit as the first option as it allows players to manually choose their save slot.
• In Player Career, the Avoid Conceding objective UI did not display correctly.
• In Player Career, the player-controlled Pro could become a member of the starting XI unintentionally quickly.

VOLTA FOOTBALL

• Added 2 new party games to VOLTA ARCADE.
  • These will only be available following a server update. Please follow @EAFIFADIRECT for updates on when this will be live in-game.
• Added a shortcut for deallocating all Skill Points used in the Skill Tree.
• Added an audio cue that plays when there’s a new leader in VOLTA ARCADE party games.

Addressed issues:

• When playing VOLTA BATTLES through Activities, the opposing Squad OVR could display an incorrect number.
• The Signature Ability button callout did not always display during matches when the Signature Ability was ready to be activated.
• When selecting an AI-controlled teammate in the Change Outfit menu found in the Store and browsing the available items, the player’s Avatar could be displayed instead.
• The ball could have sometimes travelled through the Musical Nets VOLTA ARCADE party game.
• During the Wall Ball VOLTA ARCADE party game, the white shooting limit line will display red when the player-controlled Avatar crosses it.
• Addressed a stability issue that could occur when playing a VOLTA FOOTBALL Survival match.

General, Audio, and Visual

• Updated some badges, commentary lines, kits, banners, flags, broadcast packages, stadia, pre-match scenes, and tifos.
• Updated 31 starheads and 1 new starhead.

It was too good to be true…

This year’s FIFA entry gets more and more interesting by the second. First, we had the ambitious anti-climactic launch of eFootball, which was set to be the future of the virtual footballing world. Next, we had the news of FIFA looking to abandon the FIFA name. Now we have another spectacle taking place, and it involves EA giving players virtual red cards.

Last week EA noticed an exploit in FUT Champions, probably due to a semi-viral TikTok video, which allowed players to exit losing matches without the loss being counted. The developer patched the issue quickly, saying, “we resolved an issue in FUT Champions that could allow players to leave a match without suffering a loss,” but adding the warning that “we are identifying players that exploited this issue and will be following up with them directly.”

The follow-up has arrived and, having identified the accounts that used this behaviour “consistently”, EA has retrospectively banned over 30,000 players from FIFA 22 online for a week. You could argue that EA is to blame, and the punishments are uncalled for. It isn’t like players have downloaded software to intentionally cheat, right?

We have identified over 30K active accounts that exploited this issue consistently and have suspended them from FIFA 22 online for 7 days, preventing them from participating in this week’s FUT Champions Finals.

Amusingly enough, loads of the “cheaters” are tweeting back in panic at the EA announcement, saying the ban has been mistakenly applied for 1,000 days. If this has happened to you, do not fret, EA says this is just a display glitch, and the bans are all for a week.

FIFA and EA Sports’ reported split suggests FIFA is up for development by another developer.

Electronic Arts and FIFA, the organisation has been in partnership for over thirty years becoming one of the most successful and highly grossing franchises in the gaming world. FIFA has been the biggest association football game for many consecutive years with Electronic Arts even claiming FIFA to be the best-selling game series in the world with over 200 million players. But with recent reports insinuating a possible break-up between the partnership, FIFA look for other pathways for their football gaming series.

Reports started weeks ago with EA claiming they were “exploring ideas” on changing the FIFA title. Many thought this could be just another rumour but when it was confirmed that EA filed trademark for “EA Sports FC”, the FIFA community began believing the split between EA and FIFA was inevitable.

Executives reporting the reasoning for the break down in the deal being because of the organisation, FIFA’s asking price for the licensing of their name, asking for 1 billion every 4 years. EA Sports not being happy with this then started looking at ways around this.

Later, FIFA then released a statement addressing the rumours and having their say on EA’s total power with the franchise, FIFA. They extend and go into detail about the future of FIFA sounding quite positive on the direction it is going in despite the fact the partnership with EA made the game into what it is today; one of the biggest game franchises. They also spoke about engaging in talks with “developers, investors, and analysts” on the future of FIFA. Lastly, adding their idea on expanding their audience and competition with the addition of live competitive gaming; mostly including the FIFA World Cup with it also said that EA Sport and FIFA will take a break just before the FIFA World Cup begins.

FIFA 22 was released October 1^st on all platforms giving off a very good and interesting first impression. Many of the FIFA community being happy and satisfied with the work done by EA. EA Sports recently launched an update to the game, adjusting and mending bugs that were in place following release. The update including patches to the goalkeepers that were said to be too “OP” decreasing the probability of saves inside the penalty area. Also adding minor adjustments to the HyperMotion increasing the game response time. This update getting positive feedback but with more updating needed, EA Sports are sure to be on the case.

FIFA, the International Federation of Association Football reportedly wants $1 billion every 4 years from Electronic Arts for the use of the FIFA title on their football game series.

Electronic Arts’ FIFA franchise is one of the most anticipated annual releases every year with FIFA 22 having much success thus far. FIFA 22 was released October 1^st with many of the FIFA community speculating it may be the last FIFA title as conflict between Electronic Arts and the International Federation of Association Football continues to unfold.

Electronic Arts and FIFA have been in partnership for near to 30 years with their first release being FIFA International Soccer in 1993. Although they have been in partnership for such a while, rumours of recent have suggested this partnership may come to an end. EA Sports have reported been “exploring ideas” on changing the name of their football franchise for good and with this news coming out, we have many reasons to believe this row is very much money related.

With FIFA being one of Electronic Arts’ best-selling franchises for many years with the game yearly overshadowing every other football associated release. FIFA has been highly profitable for EA Sports with not just sales but also with popular game mode, FIFA Ultimate Team, having cunning microtransactions that millions of players spend money daily. Streamers and Youtubers that are held in high regard spend tons of money on FUT Points which helps to better their game, attracting fans that add money to their pockets which come all the way back around to adding loads of money into Electronic Arts’ safe. This cycle being what brings in most of the revenue in for EA.

EA recently trademark filing suggests that the title FIFA may be changed to EA Sports FC for the next titles. An EA Sports executive, Cam Weber has expressed that talks between EA Sports and FIFA have stalled insinuating that these rumours may be true. He also suggests there may be a break in partnership between EA Sports and FIFA following the Qatar 2022 World Cup. This also confirms the asking of $1 billion every 4 years from FIFA to EA Sports.

FIFA 22 has brought much success with its early October release. With many new things added onto this years’ game. Fans have mostly been impressed by the addition of HyperMotion Technology which brings more realistic gameplay. Pro Clubs, second most popular game mode after FUT (FIFA Ultimate Team) has been much improved also, adding a whole different dynamic to making a player; adding new archetypes and perks. Even bigger, adding the edit enabling players to create female players, bridging the gender gap in Pro Clubs. Fans have also been impressed with the improvements made to Volta, allowing it to be more of a party, enjoyable game mode. Giving fans a real feel of the old FIFA Street game series. Many more improvements and developments have been made to FIFA 22 with many describing it as the “ultimate football game”.

The first FIFA 22 update is now live on all platforms. With it arrives some significant tweaks that will likely alter how people have been playing the game and various bug fixes for minor annoying issues we have been having. Gameplay:

• Reduced the effectiveness of goalkeepers when diving for top corner shots taken from inside of the penalty box. This change specifically applies to shots taken within 37 feet/11.27 meters of the goalkeeper.
• Improved the frequency of player-controlled sliding blocks making contact with a travelling ball.
• Updated the defensive logic for players near the halfway line when defending a counter-attack that originated from a corner situation. Defenders near the halfway line will now attempt to more closely mark the counter-attacking players.
• Added goalkeeper animations that could occur when a keeper is attempting to save a high finesse shot. This change is intended to provide more authentic looking goalkeeper reactions and very slightly increases the effectiveness of goalkeepers saving this type of shot.
• Updated the defensive logic for players near the halfway line when defending a counter-attack that originated from a corner situation. Defenders near the halfway line will now attempt to more closely mark the counter-attack.
