According to the game post, Bungie (the developers of games such as halo and destiny) have been spotted creating a collaboration with a rising titan within the Chinese gaming industry, NetEase.

This collaboration is said to be for producing the new “unannounced FPS mobile game” which happens to be alongside the claim that NetEase has on a new Destiny game for well over two years, as well as the fact that it seems to be a new title instead of a mobile version of Destiny 2. Furthermore TGP reported last year on a large amount of job listings for a mobile title in the Destiny franchise.

To top that all off there’s more information about Bungie beginning work on their own game engine for mobile, seemingly taking them one step closer to the mobile market of gaming. This plan is only furthered more by their partnership with NetEase due to NetEase’s expertise in the mobile gaming industry.

Quite a few videos have been made covering the topic and the post announcing this information that was gathered from a LinkedIn profile of an game artist at NetEase.

the CEO of Bungie, Pete Parsons has said that NetEase has “a significant amount of experience in mobile we don’t have” as well as the fact that the partnership will allow them to “incubate new ideas”. Furthermore Pete said “We want to be able to build games that are inspiring people from around the world, and this partnership in part will allow us to do that, to begin that incubation and development process in a real way,” which further shows both sides devotion to the concept of a mobile Destiny game as well as Bungies devotion to entering the mobile gaming industry.

Sony stated in early January of this year that they intend to acquire Bungie in a deal worth over 3 billion, which relates further to Bungies other aims at expanding the Destiny universe, such as they’re active attempts at hiring to get into the filming industry, that of which is being furthered and realised due to the acquisition by Sony. Totaki stated that “Bungie want to nurture the IP they have in a multi-dimensional manner” – “For that, we believe we can help” – “Bungie can leverage our platform so that their IP can flourish and grow”, allowing Bungie the ability to utilize their Platform as a home for the new project supposedly in the works.

A lawsuit between Bungie and cheat creating company, Elite Boss Tech is settled, admitting to violations of the DMCA

Destiny 2 is an online only first person shooter developed by Bungie and released in 2017. To this day, it continues to receive updates, so it has an active player base. This popularity has resulted in the game has been the target of a company specialising in cheats, called Elite Boss Tech, resulting in a lawsuit.

Back in August 2021, Bungie filed a lawsuit against Elite Boss Tech for multiple copyright infringement violations and had since been a back and forth between the two, likely leading to a full trial, as a settlement wasn’t clear, until the latter concluded the fight. The company’s owner, Robert James Duthie Nelson and other defendants agreed that the software adds an unauthorised “graphical overlay” in game, injecting third-party code into Bungie’s copyrighted code, which falls under “unauthorised derivative work”

They also agreed that the software fell under the direct violation of the DMCA’s anti-circumvention provisions by circumventing specific measures Bungie created, to control access files and assets in the game. This was all stated to have been done willfully.

The result of the agreement is a payout of around $13,530,000, as the software was downloaded 6,765 times, with each download was seen as a infringing circumvention device, committing statutory damage of $2,000.

The hacks were sold on a subscription basis, $19.95 CAD per month for one or a “VIP subscription for multiple games for $29.99 a month. They still operate, selling cheats for Halo Infinite, Counter Strike: Go, Apex Legends, Warframe and more.

Playstation has allegedly told its studios they can’t comment publicly on reproductive rights

Bungie’s CEO Pete Parsons has stated Sony Interactive Entertainment’s ( SIE ) imminent acquisition of the studio won’t stop the creators of Destiny from standing up for what it believes in.

Last week SIE Head Jim Ryan sent studio employees an email reminding them to “Respect differences of opinion” with regard to the sensitive subject of reproductive rights.

The email reminder which was sent after a leaked Supreme Court Draft apparently exposed plans to overrule Roe vs. Wade, which legalised abortion across the US is said to have enraged Playstation employees and sent shockwaves across all of Sony’s studios including Insomniac Games the creatives behind Spiderman.

According to leaked emails sent from Insomniac studio Head Ted Price, the studio had compiled a comprehensive reply to Playstation Studios boss Herman Hulst in which a large collective of Insomniac Studios staff appealed to the parent company to “Do better by employees directly affected” by the situation.

SIE are now reportedly working to improve inter-studio relations collaborating closely with Insomniac Games to put forward a scheme to provide financial aid to employees who have to make travel and temporary living arrangements outside of their home states to receive reproductive care.

Playstation is also reportedly planning to match a $50,000 donation Insomniac is making to the “Women’s Reproductive Rights Assistance Project”

Price however also added that Playstation won’t allow any of its studios to publicly comment on reproductive rights.

Bungie, the latest in a long line of targeted studio acquisitions in the early stages from Sony Playstation is one of the most high profile video-game companies to vocalise publicly its own position on the subject of reproductive rights in recent weeks.

“The leaked draft decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade represents a blow to freedom in America and is a direct attack on human rights,” It had said earlier this month.

“Standing up for reproductive choice and liberty is not a difficult decision to make, and Bungie remains dedicated to upholding these values.”

Earlier in the week, a Twitter user added it would “really suck if Sony put a muzzle on Bungie in future”.

A senior community manager at Bungie responding to the comment offered full confidence that “there will never be a ‘muzzle’ big enough to stop us from standing up for what’s right.”

The statement was given full support by Bungie CEO Parsons, who simply replied “Yes.”

Sony publicly revealed in January that Bungie and Sony had come to an agreement to collaborate and operate under the Sony umbrella of its world-renowned creative Sony Studios. The agreement between Sony and Bungie allows Bungie full autonomy and freedom of publishing rights to its own Destiny and Destiny 2 IP remaining a wholly independant multiplatform studio and has reiterated that future Bungie releases will remain multiplatform for the foreseeable future.

The Sony acquisition of Bungie is reportedly valued at a whopping $3.6 Billion and is currently still pending due to FTC investigations but Sony remains confident expecting the acquisition to be fully complete by the end of the year.

With the release of the valve steam deck, developers of popular MMO FPS Destiny 2 Bungie have confirmed that the game is not currently supported on the hardware and people trying to circumvent this may be banned.

In a post on the bungie help website, the developer made it clear that “destiny 2 is not supported for play on the steam deck or on any system utilizing steam plays proton unless Windows is installed and Running.”

Further more “players who attempt to launch destiny 2 on the steam deck through SteamOS or proton will be unable to enter the game and will be returned to their game library after a short time”

It has also been confirmed that anyone trying to bypass approved systems for destiny 2 will be banned.

Destiny 2 is not the only high profile game not supported by the steam deck. Epic games Fortnite has also been confirmed to not be playable on the machine, although to be fair that was expected with Epic being valves biggest rival in the PC space.

The post Playing destiny 2 on steam deck might get you banned first appeared on Get2Gaming.

Its almost here. The Witch Queen is the most recent addition to destiny 2 and will finally see us come face to face with Savathune, the titular “Witch Queen” and someone that has been stalking the periphery of the lore for a long time. First mentioned all the way back in 2015 with the release of Destiny 1s first major expansion “The Taken King”, Savathune has been a hot name ever since.

Here is everything we know going into the expansion

Launch trailer

Bungie just dropped the expansion’s launch trailer, and we are also expecting to see the Epilogue of the current season today, which should lead directly into the witch queen.

Release Date and Time

The witch queen will drop on february 22nd, but the game will go offline before that for scheduled server maintenance. Alongside it season 16 Will come, kicking off the years content leading up to the games penultimate expansion (of this “Arc” of the games existence), LIghtfall.

The process will go as follows

• Destiny 2 goes offline at 2:45 on february 22st
• Preload for the update goes live at 3:00 AM
• At 17:00, destiny 2 will be brought back online, coinciding with weekly reset. Update 4.0.0.1, which is the witch queen expansion, will be playable on all platforms. Servers will be unstable, they always are, and the game will be hard to access due to high traffic.
• At 1800, the maintenance is scheduled to complete

Whats new?

There are a number of new features in this expansion including:

• a new location, Savathunes Throne World
• Weapon crafting, allowing you to create your perfect weapon
• Glaives: the games newest weapon archetype that revolves around first person melee combat

Alongside this, we are getting a reworking of all of the void subclasses into a new system, Similar to the Darkness based Stasis subclasses last year which provide more customisation and buildcrafting potential than the old linear system Destiny 2 launched with back in 2017.

The updated system will scrap some abilities, but will also bring new ones into the light. This does mean we wont be getting any new subclasses this expansion, though bungie has promised similar overhauls to solar and arc in the not to distant future.

Alongside this we are getting a suite of new weapons, including 6 new confirmed exotic weapons these are:

• Grand overture, a gun that launches full auto micro missiles but needs to be charged to fire
• Parasite, a grenade launcher that fires Hive Worms at people.
• Ostero Striga, an SMG that fires swaming projectiles that trigger a toxic burst

And the three exotic glaives

• Edge of Intent for Warlocks (deploys a healing turret)
• Edge of Concurence for hunters (tracking chain lightning)
• And Edge of Action for titan (Places a protective shield.)

The catch

So this is great right? Yeah well, the DCV strikes again, with The critically acclaimed forsaken campaign being removed from the game and put into the content vault. Along with it, we are losing a number of strikes from the location (Notably not warden of nothing, that strike will be moved elsewhere) as well as the tangled shore location and the last year of seasonal content

Power Level

So that you can get started right away, bungie is setting the new *base* power level as 1350, which is 20 above the current max level, so RIGHT NOW stock up on Upgrade modules but dont use them, they will be wasted at the exact moment. But why do you need to level, I Hear you ask?

THE RAID

We are getting a new raid launching on saturday march 5th, so If you are planning on taking part, get a team together now and get ready to go. Day one everyone will automatically be put 20 light under level and the goal will be to be the first team in the world to clear the Raid. the team that makes it will get a brand new, shiny champions belt to display… wherever. Even if you dont make that goal, however, clearing within the first 24 hours will net you a cool Emblem to show off.

The raid will be set within one of the now ubiquitous pyramid ships that are scattered across destiny’s system. We did briefly go inside one during shadowkeep, but this will take us deep into the ships

The post Destiny 2 the witch queen: everything you need to know first appeared on Get2Gaming.

 was 7 years ago that we first heard the name “Savathun” as players of destiny 2. The sister of Oryx, the taken king, she has been lurking in the game, in the background, for ages now. With the lauch of the witch queen expansion in February, we will finally get to face her in combat. Savathun is the Hive god of deception and trickery, so it is obvious that the trailers are going to be full of Hidden details and puzzles for Players to find.

One of the first things that may clue people into the fact that there is more to this trailer than it first appears is NPC Ikora Rey mentioning that nothing is as it seems, followed by the main point people are looking into right now. Text on screen flickers before resolving into words, but those flickers are comprised of Images and Text that relates to elements on the periodic table. Reddit User Sleepysaurus_Rex on the r/raidsecrets subreddit was the first to suggest that these may be some sort of code.

Some kind of possible secret code in the new trailer? NOT the chemical symbols. Could just be to look nice, though. from raidsecrets

Users where quick to point out that the combinations of 16 with 32.066 and 80 with 200.59 where the atomic number and weight for sulfur and mercury respectively, and that [Xe]4f145d106s2 is the electron configuration for the element osmium. Now Osmium is notable. To Dive into the hyperborean nightmare that is destiny 2 lore for a second, back before the hive where… the hive (its complicated), they where from a planet called Fundament. On fundament, there was a country called the Osmium Court, which was ruled over by the Osmium king. The Osmium king had 3 children, called Xi Ro, Sathona and Aurash, who would later become Xivu Arath, Savathune and Auryx (Later Oryx) after bonding with the Worms given to them by the worm gods and becoming the first Hive. The Osmium king feared that an alignment of the 52 moons of fundament would cause something called the Syzygy, which would destroy all of fundamentals civilisation. As for the other parts though, this remains unclear.

Whether this will resolve into the first step in a longer puzzle (which would not be unheard of for the destiny universe, such as in the case of the still unfound 15th wish) may take some time to be seen. The guys at raid secrets… genuinely scare me but they do also often latch onto the dumbest things and convince themselves there is a puzzle when there really isnt.

At most, we will have to see what comes of this with the launch of witch queen in February.

Bungie has been around for 30 years. Yes, 30. In fact, right now we are in the middle of a small retrospective of bungie’s first FPS franchise Marathon (check out the first article here). Well, Bungie’s 30th anniversary celebration dropped yesterday in destiny 2, and brought with it a suite of new weapons.

While not Exact replicas of their historic counterparts, Destiny now has Guns based on Halo 2’s battle rifle, Halo 1’s Magnum and the energy sword from across the whole halo franchise all now have counterparts in destiny 2, which also are all designed to feel like their Halo Counterparts. The Battle rifle, for example, is designed to be hip-fired in a similar fashion to how guns in Halo Typically act.

The Update also features a new 6 player matchmade activity, “Dares of Eternity”, which is available for all players, as well as a new dungeon which is unlocked as part of the Quest to get Gjallarhorn.

Oh yeah, sorry, forgot to mention that, GJALLARHORN IS BACK! The Iconic Rocket launcher from destiny 1 has returned to destiny 2, and its… pretty good. Not really had much time to play with it yet but it doesn’t feel underpowered.

The Update has also added Armour Ornaments based on Marathon, A Sword Based on Myth, and a suite of Well-loved destiny 1 weapons, such as Eysaluna, Matador 64 and 1000 yard stare.

Bungie Split from Xbox, leaving the Halo IP behind back in 2007, and while they would continue to work together for a few years after that, releasing Halo ODST and Halo Reach together, the writing was on the wall. In 2010 bungie signed and exclusive publishing deal with activision, leaving the Halo Franchise and microsoft behind.

In an interview with Axios, Xbox head Phil Spencer said:” At the time they had big ambitions. They had sold their business for a certain amount of money. They saw what Halo turned into. And it’s like, ‘OK, Microsoft benefited more than Bungie did from the success of Halo.’ There’s no other story that can be written there. If you’re saying, ‘Hey, I think I’ve got another one of those in me. I want to really take another chance,’ I can understand the allure of doing that as an independent company.”

When asked if he thought the split from microsoft was inevitable, Spencer responded “Could we do it today? I think we could.”

The post bungie adds halo themed items to destiny 2 first appeared on Get2Gaming.

Destiny 2 is a game with a lot of lore. Youtube channels like myelin games and My name is Byf make that clear right off the bat. And with a lot of lore comes a lot of characters, from the Kell of house light Misraaks (or Mithrax in human tongue), a fallen captain who regained faith in Humanity after our character saved them, to Mara Sov, Queen of the awoken and 2021’s winner of worst sister ever.

Over the last 2 weeks, fans have been voting on who their favourite character in the game was, and it has finally been confirmed that Saint 14 is the communities favourite character, beating out fellow crucible announcer lord Shax for the top spot.

Who is saint 14?

Saint 14 started out as a name we really only knew thanks to an item description back in destiny 1, with the helm of saint 14 exotic helmet for titans, which blinded enemies that entered the ward of dawn super when equipped. The helmet came back in destiny 2 with the added ability to cause the same disorientate effect while using the sentinel shield, an alternative super ability to ward of dawn. From in game lore you could gleam that Saint was one of the best titans out there, and was even considered to be the “son” of the speaker, who served as a spiritual leader to the city.

Unfortunately saint 14 disappeared at some point in the past, before the player character guardian woke up. As recounted from the helm of saint 14 lore tab:

C6: Talking about the Speaker like you’re related to him is eccentric. Claiming he’s seen the future, that he fought Six Fronts fueled on the idea that some Guardian savior is coming? That’s insane.

SX: Belief is a hell of a thing.

C6: Sure, yeah. One Guardian’s going to fix everything. Kick Crota off the Moon. Make it look like us Vanguard know our head from our hindquarters. Hey, where are you going?

SX: One of the new recruits from Old Russia I’ve had my eye on—entering the Crucible for the first time.

C6: Hey, maybe they’re the one. We’ll call ’em Crota’s End.

The next time the saint came up again probably came as a shock to some people. In The Curse of Osiris expansion for destiny 2, after completing the main story, players where tasked with completing little mini quests to unlock weapons as part of something referred to as “prophecy boxes”. After completing half of these quests, players would be tasked with entering the infinite forest and within you were able to discover the grave of saint 14, confirming he died at the hands of the Vex. The Vex constructed a shrine in honor of him in the simulated future of the infinite forest, which Saint had entered in the hopes of finding Osiris, who Bungie narrative designer Robert Brookes has confirmed Saint has a romantic relationship with.

So he’s dead right? Yeah so… during season of Dawn in 2019, we learned that Osiris had been developing a time machine, the sundial, to try to bring Saint back. It didn’t work, and the Sundial was seized by 3 Psion flayers, who were trying to use it to change the outcome of the Red War, destiny 2’s base campaign. During all of this, the player Guardian took it upon themselves to also go out and look for saint 14, and if possible to bring him back. And we did. Through killing the Vex Martyr Mind alongside Saint, we were able to change history and saint 14 was able to leave the endless forest. 

Once he was out, he moved to the towner, where now he feeds the pigeons and runs the trials of Osiris PVP mode. That is far from the end of saints story, the last year has seen him forced to confront his past decisions when we employed the aid of Misraaks in ending the endless night, and right now, when not running trials, Saint is off scouring the system to try to find Osiris who was kidnapped by Savathune, the hive god of deception.

The Poll

The poll began 2 weeks ago, started by Reddit user “The DankestMeatball”. The poll featured heavy hitters such as Gambit announcer the Drifter, Uldren Sov/The crow and The Exo Stranger. Many where expecting the late Cayde 6, who died during the Forsaken expansion, to win due to his enduring popularity in the fandom, but he went out in the final 3.

The final poll was a fight between lord Shax, the main crucible Announcer, and Saint 14, the Trials Of Osiris Crucible announcer (for those wondering, lord Saladin went out day 4. No-one likes saladin), with the russian pigeon lover coming out ontop.

Bungie have, through the “spoiler alert” sidearm, suggested that someone will die during the witchqueen expansion coming next february. While saint is an unlikely candidate to die due to his important roll in the game, but its not impossible.

What is gambit?

Gambit is destiny 2’s black sheep. While Strikes, the main PVE gamemode, Offer both Casual and hardcore PVE experiences to players that want them, and the PVP Crucible Does the same, gambit has been neglected by bungie. The last real update the mode got was with the launch of the “beyond light” expansion in 2020, which Removed the “Gambit Prime” gamemode and changed up how the main version played. That change was very poorly received by the community and to this day gambit is the least populated core mode of the game.

In gambit, 2 teams of 4 players race to kill enemies and collect Motes. Motes drop from enemies and players can carry up to 15 Motes. These Motes can then be deposited at a bank. When players on the enemy team deposit motes, it spawns a “Blocker” on the Enemies bank, which means that players cant deposit their motes until the blocker has been killed. There are 3 teirs of block (Small, medium and large) that are formed based on how many montes players deposited in the bank.

At periodic points in the match, players from either team will have the ability to invade the other team, during which one player Can enter into the other teams area and attempts to kill as many of them as possible, being pulled back after either 20 seconds or killing 4 enemies.

Once one teams bank is full, that team summons a boss enemy called a “primeval” and must kill it before the other team summons and kills their primeval. During the time that the primeval is active any invading enemies will be able to heal the boss by killing players.

What’s the problem

Gambit has always struggled to find its niche within the destiny playerbase. PVP players tend to dislike the gamemode because both being invaded and invading feel unbalanced in favour of the invader, while PVE players dislike invasions because they enjoy killing ads and fighting a powered up player is not the experience they are looking for.

All this came to a head recently when, on reddit, a user by the name of Zorseking34 posted Staying “Bungie, the fact that an enemy Gambit team can invade while they have 80 motes and we only have 8 makes the mode insufferable.”

This comment actually got a response from Community Manager dmg04, who said “Yeah, this can be a pretty rough time! Team is looking at some improvements to make in the Witch Queen timeframe. We’ll be sure to pass this feedback …”

While this is neither confirmation or denial that changes are coming to gambit, it does mean that the bungie team are looking into addressing problems with the gamemode and to make it a more enjoyable experience for players.

On a personal note, I don’t think the invader mechanics are the main issue with the game mode right now. It is exceptionally easy to Blocker-stack and have 2 incredibly hard to kill Large blockers (and maybe even a squishy small blocker that has the ability to Grant immunity to the large blocker), and then just maintain that stranglehold on the enemy team, meaning that they cannot deposit what-so-ever.

The Witch Queen expansion is a long way off, however, so changes to gambit may not come into the game for a long time.

Festival of the lost

Destiny 2’s halloween event, “Festival of the lost” dropped with reset yesterday, and this time around Bungie have fully revitalised the event.

Since the launch of “Destiny 2” in 2017, the event had gone largely unchanged. Same loot with few additions each year, same activity (the haunted forest) and endless memes about “homie”, a large, immortal hive boss with a big axe. However, due to the (presumed) destruction of mercury with the launch of “Beyond Light” in november 2020, which was the setting of the “Haunted Forest”, so this years event needed to switch this up a bit.

Prior to launch, we only knew so much about what was coming. The only thing that Bungie had shown off were the new armour ornaments, themed after Dinosaurs and with some HeavyKamen Rider/Power rangers monster energy, and a new day-of-the-dead Ghost shell.

The biggest departure this year is the Haunted lost sectors. These are horror themed modifications to Destiny’s typical lost sectors, and will tell a number of different stories, from a Exo Body fusing with a Vex Mind, a guardian on Nessus being hunted relentlessly for their ghost, and a headless monster on the Moon that searches for lost ghosts.

In addition to these, players can collect Pages from “the book of the forgotten” to earn bonus loot.

Alongside this the festival of the lost mainstay of masks have returned, with a number of new additions such as a Pyramid ship, Ada-1 and the Europan Penguins you collected back when Beyond light launched and haven’t thought about it in 6 months. Players can also obtain the solar 540 Pulse Rifle “Jurassic Green”… although its perk pool is kinda underwhelming, and especially when 540s are out of favour in the meta.

Players have until November 2nd to collect this loot before the event ends, so get out there and get farming!

Other Updates

Alongside the Festival of the Lost, A few other updates have come to the game.

In “The Corrupted” Strike

• Sedias knockback has been reduced.
• A Champion that was hard to find and defeat has been removed from the ransack ogre encounter. This should make it easier for players to get platinum champion ratings on their clears.
• A bug with the scoring triumph for this nightfall has been fixed.

In “The dreaming city” Location

• Taken Miasma would occasionally show up and block off locations while in free roam. This has been fixed.

In “Trials of Osiris” PVP mode

• Currency Reward lockout at 3, 5 and 7 wins no-longer reset when a card is reset.
• Playlist tooltip added to say that crossplay must be enabled to play trials.
• Trials passages only display a warning message if the player account owns a ticket.

In “Momentum Control” PVP mode

• The Maps “Anomaly” and “Dead Cliffs” have been removed from this mode only.

Some weapon changes

• The sunset “horrors Least” Pulse rifle no-longer drops at zero power. Bummer.
• You are guaranteed an Adept Nightfall Weapon if you complete a Grandmaster Nightfall with a Platinum champion Rating.
• Fixed a bug where “Shoot to Loot” and “Overflow” would occasionally double the magazine size on certain weapon types.

Ability changes:

• Fixed a bug where stasis titans could not sprint or use their light attack while in super.

And finally, some Vendor updates.

• You can now preview gears you can focus at saint 14.
• If you reset your Vanguard, Crucible or gambit seasonal ranks for a second time without claiming the ornament they will be available from the vendor.
• Sunset Materials (Destination and Tokens) now clearly say that they have no use and can be safely dismantled.
