Naughty dog have release ten minutes of gameplay from their upcoming remake of “The last of us”, now titled “the Last of Us Part 1”, following leaks that the developers have described as “disheartening, frustrating and hurtful.”

The ten Minutes Feature a gameplay deep dive with the devs who go into how they “went in and Rebuilt the Game from the ground up. An accompanying post on the Playstation blog has confirmed the game can Render at Naitive 4K with a targeted 30FPS, or a dynamic 4K at a targeted 60FPS.

The blog states ““The PS5’s powerful hardware drives a host of visual benefits, from denser physics with tons of bumpables and chipables (bullets can now rip apart concrete and environmental objects) and cinematics now transition seamlessly to gameplay,”

“Motion matching technology means that character animations flow more convincingly, intuitively and realistically; all adding another layer of believability to characters and their interactions with the world.

“Further, AI upgrades mean that characters inhabit the world in a more authentic and realistic way, such as buddy characters navigating cover to avoid enemy NPC sightlines more authentically.”

Naughty Dog have also confirmed the addition of permadeath and speedrun modes, as well as new costumes for Joel and ellie

This reveal comes following leaks showing off the games Intro, Combat and accessibility options. Naughty Dogs vice president Arne meyer responded to this by saying “Leaks really suck, Esp when we’re right on the cusp of an asset drop. It’s disheartening and frustrating to teams who have put their hearts making awesome things for our fans.” T

These thoughts where echoed by Samuel prince, senior editor at naughty Dog who said “They’re extremely hurtful to the devs who work tirelessly to bring you these wonderful games. Public-facing assets take a long time to create, revise, approve, localize, clear legal, ESRB, etc. Be kind!”

Now, with all that said…

WARNING: PERSONAL OPINIONS AHEAD

I do not like how this game is shaping up. On one hand the fact the last of us is coming to PC is great, and the first game is by far the less controversial of the two, But the last of us Part 1 looks like its at best going to be a very mediocre experience and, at worst, is going to be bad.

Lets start with the “4K” claims because I am going to be real I dont think people really understand what 4K means when it comes to games. 4K is a resolution. 4K means the game is being output to your screen at a size of 3840 x 2160 Pixels. Resolution, notably, has *nothing* to do with graphics. It *can*, higher resolutions can facilitate nicer looking graphics, but that really does not matter much. If you do not have a 4K display, then a 4K resolution means nothing. Hell, on PC there is a small but notable argument that Lower resolution CRT monitors are better than higher Resolution LCD monitors because of their faster refresh rate which makes games play better.

I'm seeing loads of people voicing their anger/concern for the remake's gameplay, and that's 100% okay. I'm not here to argue with anyone.

Another thing that has me a little unsure of this release is the accessibility options. Naughty dog have bragged about there being “over 60” Accessibility features in the game. This is, in itself, not bad. More accessibility options are always a good thing. But I would argue that with the recent leaks… these are not accessibility options. A lot of these are dedicated to Lowering difficulty or easing combat or removing puzzles, and personally these are the kinds of “accessibility options” that I really hate. Good accessibility options are Button Rebinding, Colour blind modes, Text to speech, audio descriptive, etc, which are all here, but Fundamentally these should all just be cosmetic so people can enjoy the game. When an “accessibility option” changes the difficulty of a game, then it hurts the integrity of the overall experience. This was an issue in TLOU Part 2 where you could trivialise the entire game using these.

To be clear, again, accessibility features are good inherently. But I know of people who don’t have use of their hands, complete dark souls or Sekiro with their feet. accessibility is making it so that anyone *can* complete a game, not making it so that anyone will.

All in all, graphically the game looks meh, the Boasting of 4K is borderline meaningless, the game looks like its once again going to have any challenge nuked from orbit in the name of accessibility, and all in all this feels like a rushed cash in. they could very easily have just ported the PS4 release of TLOU to PS5 and PC. its still a fine looking game. But instead they decided to do a full “remake” and charge $70 for it.

The post Naughty Dog show off LOU:P1 gameplay after “hurtful” leaks first appeared on Get2Gaming.

Unfortunately, it looks like HBO’s adaptation of the hit game will not be hitting screens any time soon.

A recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter had HBO programming president Casey Bloys confirm that The Last of Us is “shooting right now in Canada” but will not be airing in 2022. “We have not announced an air date yet,” Bloys clarified, to the dismay of fans who were hoping to see the show air this year.

The Last of Us began filming in July 2021, and is expected to end in June 2022.

This led many fans to believe that a late 2022 premier could have been possible. It seems, however, that they’ll have to wait it out for another year.

The Last of Us is the first project undertaken by PlayStation Productions.

PlayStation Productions was founded by Sony Interactive Entertainment in 2019, in order to adapt PlayStation franchises into movies and television shows. There will be a total of ten episodes for the first season, and the show will be the first HBO series to be based on a Video Game.

In other news regarding game-based film productions, the Uncharted movie has already premiered in select territories and will be showing in many more countries this coming weekend. With a $120 million budget, the movie adaptation has reportedly generated more than $21 million in its opening weekend. The star-studded cast includes Tom Holland, who is most well known for his performance as Spider-Man.

 Naugtydogs upcoming remaster (barely, the Ps4 versions look perfect and there hasnt been much dont but whatever) of the 4th and 5th uncharted games will let players transfer over their saves and trophy progress. As revealed by the official playstation twitter account, save date and trophy progress from uncharted 4: a thief’s end and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy can be carried over from ps4 to ps5

There is currently no word on the PC versions Save integration, as that version of the collection is still only set for a 2022 window of release.

The transfer can be done via cloud save integration with a players profile, with them needing to own the original ps4 collection and the remaster on the same account. Owning the Ps4 version and and getting the ps5 version will cost as little as £10, slough ps4 disk owners with a digital ps5 will not be able to get the upgrade. Players with the following versions are eligible for the upgrade:

• Uncharted 4 on PS4
• Uncharted: the Lost Legacy (Physical or digital)
• Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy Digital bundle

PLaystation Plus subscribers who own either game through the service are out of luck, buy the way. You need to buy the whole game for ps5 to play it.

Oh, Rockstar. Honey. Baby. My darling GTA holes. Corporate Uncritical Networking Teams of epic proportions! We NEED to talk… Just, in general, like, wanna get a pint after reading? Your treat, of course.

To briefly summarize before we get to the news: Rockstar has been making so much money from GTA 5 and GTA Online that they’re basically the Disney of gaming companies, in that they don’t really have to try too hard to make stuff anymore because that Scrooge McDuckian money pool isn’t exactly going anywhere! After 8 years of expansions to GTA 5 Online (psst, which we have!) we now get the GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition.

Criticisms range from bugs and glitches to strange spelling mistakes from a corner-cutting AI of samurai proportions and- THE BURGER DOESN’T SPIN!? And I’m sorry, “the taste of a real man’s heat” sounds more like a bikram yoga joint than a hotdog place! If I wanted to taste a man’s heat, I’d glaze myself in hot sauce and become a contortionist!

GTA 6: The Good, The Bad and the Ugly: Known leaker who covers titles from Rockstar and Quantic Dreams games (AccNGT) has recently aired some concerns on Twitter regarding how ‘Some people don’t realize how chaotic the development is’, also claiming that although the visuals will be high-quality, it will be a disappointment if it were to release next year.

While Naughty Dog and Rockstar have been known to get their hands dirty with crunch time issues (which you can find out more on here), given the recent announcement of the Dr Dre expansion for GTA, I doubt even Rockstar would confirm anything for GTA 6 this soon.

AccNGT doesn’t clarify if they’re talking about the gameplay or story mode being the main things to suffer.

Other leakers have claimed that GTA 6 allegedly started production shortly after former co-founder and writer Dan Houser left Rockstar. His departure has lead to Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two to dropping in stocks, so GTA 6 may well end up being the Metal Gear Survive of the Grand Theft Auto universe if this is true.

The post ‘Disappointing’ GTA 6 Claim from Industry Insider! first appeared on Get2Gaming.

Nick Offerman is an actor and comedian most famous for his role on the sitcom Parks and Recreation, wherein he plays the absurdly manly caricature of All-American excess, Ron Swanson.

Offerman’s casting for the role of Bill in the upcoming HBO TV adaptation of the game was confirmed after the original actor for the role (Con O’Neil from Chernobyl) had to pull out due to scheduling conflicts, according to Variety.

Furthermore, the role of Frank (Bill’s partner in The Last of Us) has been confirmed to be played by Murray Bartlett from the hit show Chernobyl. They will be “two post-pandemic survivalists living alone in their own isolated town”, which is an interesting creative choice considering we never “meet” Frank in The Last of Us game (on account of him being dead and all that jazz). So keeping Frank alive pleases me because it gives the impression the show will be adapting a similar story while also not being afraid to change things to give a distinct identity from the games.

Casting Details:

Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian, Game of Thrones) and Bella Ramsey (Hilda, Holmes & Watson… and also Game of Thrones) are confirmed to be playing The Last of Us protagonists Joel and Ellie. Click here for our past article going over the first images from the upcoming HBO adaptation.

Nico Parker from the new Dumbo will be playing Joel’s daughter Sarah. I’ll take this moment to say that the “I sell hardcore drugs” joke put me on my ass in the game, so fingers crossed some version of that makes it into the show. Gabriel Luna, of Agents of Shield fame, is also set to play Joel’s brother Tommy.

The Last of Us TV show will be the first foray from PlayStation Productions into live action entertainment, owned by Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Considering both a starring actor and one of the lead writers for Chernobyl (Craig Mazin) will be working on the show, I’ll use this moment to recommend checking out Philosophy Tube’s analysis video on HBO’s Chernobyl, where (pre-out) Abby Thorn analyses the ethics and philosophy of personal responsibility.

Neil Druckmann, the lead writer for the first game (and co-president of Naughty Dog), will also be co-writer and executive-producer for the upcoming TV show adaptation, so this could either go absolutely brilliantly or absolutely not. Take it from me, us creatives have a lot of variation when it comes to how we go about tinkering with our “darlings”, to borrow a phrase from William Faulkner.

Shooting for The Last of Us TV show started in July, with plans to wrap up around mid-2022, expected to be largely following the plot of the first game.

Turtle Rock Studios, the developer company for Back 4 Blood released a statement on wanting to get the game’s difficulty “just right”, as mentioned in a Reddit post by the company’s official channel. Despite (in my opinion, correct) claims that ‘a bit of difficulty can add a lot of replayability’, Turtle Rock is mostly concerned with criticisms from players on the difficulty of Back 4 Blood, as well as how issues and bugs found during development resulted in the game being ‘more difficult than intended’.

If you’re a Dark Soulsian difficulty-loving cycle-path (like me), then you’re in luck because we’re selling Back 4 Blood on PS4, Xbox One and not one, not two, but THREE PlayStation 5 editions (Standard, Steelbook and Special).

The Opinion Corner: Based on my highly rigorous intellectually herculean research on Back 4 Blood (which consists of a half-remembered Zero Punctuation review and playing Left 4 Dead a few years ago), the main source of difficulty gameplay wise comes from general bullet-sponge-grunge-festivity of the various zombie lads. That in itself isn’t a bad thing all the time, but next time you want to make a game difficult AND fun, you’ll want to make the way something is difficult clear.

Let’s take The Last of Us for example; another classic zombie shooty-bang-bang: Between the fast sight-gifted “runners”, the deadly but visually-impaired “clickers” and the burly-boi “bloaters”, each enemy type has different strengths and shortcomings that mean you have to adapt on the fly with how you react to them. And that’s not even covering environmental factors, like whether you’re able to take the stealthy approach at a certain time.

Back 2 Back 4 Blood. Other gameplay issues and fixes mentioned in the Reddit post include:

• The spawn rate of Ridden Mutations.
• Adjusting the trauma-damage system.
• Updates made to melee cards.
• The Cardinal Sin of ‘refocusing on playstyles away from speedrunning’. Speedrunning is awesome, here’s why!
• Oh, an offline mode, that’s nice.
• DLC and new difficulty levels have been released.
• A focus on ‘quality of life changes’.

Fallout 76 and Final Fantasy VIII Remastered to join the service, along with The Last of Us II and others.

After announcements made in a recent blog post, seems like PS Now might be making some moves to catch up with Xbox Game Pass, and are adding one of their AAA games. I’ve always thought of PS Now like Netflix, and Game Pass like Prime Video.

PS Now and Netflix have some gems, but are mostly full of lackluster titles. On the plus side, they seem to stay there forever. Meanwhile, Game Pass has had a huge rota of AAAs in its library, including Red Dead Redemption 2, but you have to snap up the opportunity to play them before they’re replaced.

Prime does a similar thing (I miss you dearly But I’m a Cheerleader). I live in permanent fear that they’ll take Banana Fish off of Prime someday. Although it can be heartbreaking when a favourite leaves the service, it’s definitely a better mode of operations for a games streaming service. How often do you replay a video game? Besides a few favourites, most of us gamers do a one-and-done deal with the titles we play.

Despite having both a PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at my disposal, I usually find myself reaching for the Xbox controller for this reason. PS Now just doesn’t cut it compared to Game Pass. (Also, 4 months of Spotify premium was a pretty nice perk.) I’ve been hoping that PS Now would get a bit of a revamp, and that some interesting titles would be joining the service to make it worth the £8.99 per month cost.

It looks like my prayers have finally been answered, check out these upcoming titles:

The Last of Us II

Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us II is definitely the biggest title joining the service this month. If you somehow know nothing about The Last of Us, it’s set in an apocalyptic post-pandemic world. Having finally found peace after the events of the first game, Ellie and Joel are settled down in a community of survivors.

When the peace that Ellie had finally been settling into is violently ripped away from her, she embarks on a journey for justice – or rather, revenge.

Fallout 76

The Fallout series needs no introduction. Explore a vast wasteland, devastated by nuclear war, in this open-world multiplayer addition to the Fallout story.  Work together, or against one another, to survive. Final Fantasy VIII Remastered

Final Fantasy VIII remastered is joining the service, and more Final Fantasy titles are on the way!
It is a time of war. The Republic of Galbadia, under the influence of the sorceress Edea, mobilizes its great armies against the other nations of the world. Squall and other members of SeeD, an elite mercenary force, join hands with Rinoa, a resistance fighter, to fight against Galbadia’s tyrannical rule and to prevent Edea from fulfilling her ultimate goal.

Yet Another Zombie Defense HD

Survive undead waves night after night alone or with up to three friends in this top-down arcade zombie shooter with tactical/strategy elements. Naughty Dog has finally confirmed that a multiplayer component is on the way.

We previously reported found evidence of a The Last of Us 2 multiplayer component in development. This was the result of a data miner, Speclizer, uncovering the files. However, Naughty Dog hadn’t commented on the findings, and we weren’t entirely sure if a multiplayer title was even in their plans anymore. Well, Naughty Dog has reassured fans that the project is still in development in a special community update during the celebratory ‘The Last of Us Day.’

Answering the question of what’s happening with The Last of Us right now, Naughty Dog’s Rochelle Snyder confirmed that the multiplayer project is still on the way, stating the company is “in full swing of hiring for MP-related positions.”

Naughty Dog is currently involved in several projects right now, including The Last of Us HBO TV series and Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves, a PS5 remaster of Uncharted 4 and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy that’s also making its way to PC courtesy of developer Iron Galaxy.

The television adaptation of the beloved PlayStation exclusive series has revealed its first look

Naughty Dog Co-President, Neil Druckmann, who is the creative director and writer of the PlayStation Exclusive series The Last of Us, has shared an image of the set on “The Last of Us Day”.

When I first saw them on set in full costume, I was like: "Hooooooly shit! It's Joel & Ellie! 😭!"

Druckmann will be a director of HBO’s first series, which is sourced from an updated production list on the Directors Guild of Canada website from earlier this month. There will be five directors working on the series. Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin is listed as one of the directors and is co-writing and executive producing the show alongside Neil Druckmann.

The pilot episode is directed by Kantemir Balagov, who has uploaded a photo on Instagram expressing his gratitude for working on the series. The Last of Us adaptation is the first television series from PlayStation Productions, a studio formed by Sony Interactive Entertainment to adapt its original game properties for film and TV.

In this series, Joel Miller is played by Pedro Pascal; he is known for his role as Javier Peña in the Netflix series Narcos. Ellie is played by Bella Ramsey, who is known for playing Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones. Another confirmed character and casting, who is not shown in the shared picture, is Joel’s daughter, Sarah. She is played by Nico Parker, the daughter of actress Thandie Newton, the starring actress of 2019’s Dumbo.

The production, which is set to wrap in June 2022, is expected to cover the events of The Last of Us (2013) and may include content based on The Last of Us Part 2 (2020). Filming is underway in Alberta, Canada, with its streets redesigned to look like the streets of Austin, Texas.

A data miner has uncovered what seems to be the shelved multiplayer assets for The Last of Us 2…

A data miner, going by the name of Speclizer, recently shared what is allegedly multiplayer assets for The Last of Us 2. These multiplayer assets hint towards a Battle Royale mode that could have potentially come to Naughty Dog’s title.

Speclizer highlights what seems to be a prop displaying a big multiplayer map with several locations from The Last of Us 2’s single-player campaign, including Adler Park, Camallito, and Port of Camallito. The map also includes several points of interest like Gas Station, Nature Center, Estate, and Motel.

It’s not just the size and layout of the map that suggests a The Last of Us 2 battle royale mode may have been in the works. As Speclizer points out, the hidden multiplayer files also revealed other genre trademarks, including a compass, player count, and emote wheel.

The Last of Us 2 was originally supposed to have an online multiplayer component at launch, but Naughty Dog shelved it to focus on the single-player experience. At the time, the studio confirmed that a Factions successor (the first entry’s multiplayer mode) was still in development in some form but that it wouldn’t be part of The Last of Us 2. The most common assumption seems to be that Factions 2 will be a standalone release set in the same universe as The Last of Us 2.

It’s worth noting, though, that none of this is official. Even if these assets were legitimately developed, there’s no guarantee that any of them will make it to developer Naughty Dog’s standalone multiplayer title. Furthermore, neither the studio nor publisher Sony has commented on what Speclizer has found.

While Naughty Dog has been pretty quiet about its confirmed standalone The Last of Us multiplayer experience, more details have slowly emerged, such as job postings from June highlighting the developer’s vision for the title.
