Microsoft fans, its time for some despair. After a month which has seen you get some great Xbox game pass exclusives, it’s about time you got some not so good news. One exclusive that got away went on to to be one of the most influential games of the last twenty years. Yes, it could be none over than Rockstar’s infamous GTA 3. Heartbreaking.

As revealed in ‘Power On: The Story of Xbox’ documentary, Rockstar revealed they were in talks with Microsoft to get one of its original franchises back on track. Obviously, this game would go on to be the now iconic GTA 3. Unfortunately for Microsoft, they turned down the offer, leading to Rockstar developing the game as a timed exclusive for the PS2 in 2001.

This is the Netflix and Blockbuster debacle all over again isn’t it? Okay well not quite as bad considering Microsoft are still thriving and Blockbuster have disappeared off the face of the Earth, but still. It’s got to be one of their biggest regrets in the Xbox’s twenty year history.

Rockstar news specialist Ben Turpin highlighted the news on Twitter, writing that “Microsoft execs outright rejected” their pitch. How could they reject it though? It really just doesn’t make any sense. If someone comes into the office and presents the sandbox adventure which would revolutionise the gaming industry then they must’ve had some silly people in that building.

Rockstars open-world crime game went on to sell 14.5 million units just on the PS2, which was only eventually beaten by the games sequel: Grand Theft Auto Vice City. As a result, the success of the PS2 was mainly down to that rejection, and Sony probably still thank Microsoft to this day. If it wasn’t for the success of Microsoft’s own franchise, Halo, well they could very well have fallen flat on their face back in the day.

In 2001, Rockstar Games approached Microsoft to pitch GTA3 for the original Xbox but the Microsoft execs outright rejected them – thus forcing them turn to Sony to make the title a limited time exclusive for the PS2, according to a new released documentary by Xbox. pic.twitter.com/ijrJUGlc6g

— Ben Turpin (@videotech_) December 14, 2021

However, the effects were still present in the sixth generation of gaming consoles. This is because each of the three games in the GTA Trilogy (GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas) enjoyed timed exclusivity on the PS2. Additionally, Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories were both exclusive to the PSP for a short period as well.

Thankfully for Xbox fans, the two companies are obviously back on amicable terms. The two previous Grand Theft Auto games and Red Dead games have been released on both consoles at the same time. Despite this, it’s quite impressive that Microsoft would own up to their mistakes like this. Alongside the red ring of death, they have been admitting their previous issues quite well and why shouldn’t they be? Every business mistakes them once in a while.

So what do we think Microsoft fans? Do you wish you could’ve got your hands on GTA 3 earlier back in the day? Or is just not really that big of a deal anymore? Either way, head on over to our store to pick up some more modern games we say!

Who’s in the mood for some more gaming fun this festive period? PlayStation certainly are. The December 2021’s PlayStation Now games have finally been announced and they don’t look set to disappoint. On December 7, fans will be treated to GTA III: The Definitive Edition, John Wick Hex, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster and Spitlings. Who’s excited for this then?

It looks like PlayStation Now has been on a hot streak recently. Last months games were equally impressive, with Mafia: Definitive Edition, Celeste, Final Fantasy IX and Totally Reliable Delivery Service. Not bad, right? It’s great additions to the services ever expanding game library which now boasts over 700 PS2, PS3 and PS4 games streamable to PS5, PS4 or PC, and over 300 PS4 titles which can be downloaded and played on consoles.

Additionally, the news comes just after the announcement of the December games for PlayStation Plus. This will have any gamer excited during these cold winter months, especially those looking to stay inside due to increasing COVID cases. Why bother going out socialising when you’ve got all these games to get through? There’s plenty of fun to be had, that’s for sure.

Whilst the GTA Trilogy hasn’t quite lived up to expectations as of yet, Rockstar have released an apology stating they will improve the game even after their recent patches. Therefore, we believe there is nothing to worry about here. Grand Theft Auto III should be perfectly playable, and is definitely worth playing for anyone who is yet to experience the revolutionary title.

Sony Looking To Invest More In PlayStation Now

It was revealed by Bloomberg that Sony is likely to invest more in their current game-streaming platform. The service has had varied success thus far, but fans still demand more to improve its overall experience.

Not only this, but it was recently revealed that Sony intend to create an ‘Xbox Game Pass’ equivalent for their consoles. According to Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, the project is codenamed Spartacus. This is what he tweet earlier this week:

“Sony is planning a new subscription service, code-named Spartacus, to take on Xbox Game Pass. It’s being pitched as a three-tier service that will merge PlayStation Now with PlayStation Plus. Highest tier could include PS1/PS2/PSP games”.

Obviously, plans for that look quite far off at the moment. Therefore, we should be happy with what we’ve got at the moment. Get onto your PlayStation Now app as soon as you can and get cracking on with these latest titles. Adversely, maybe they don’t quite tickle your fancy, so head on over to our store instead and check out what deals we’ve got there!

The people are fighting back! After the disappointing launch of the GTA Trilogy, many fans have been left downtrodden for what was supposed to be the game of the year. Unfortunately, that just hasn’t turned out to be the case. Whilst there have been a variety of problems, one glaring omission from the original games was the exclusion of certain songs and sounds. Those waiting to rock on to Billie Jean whilst driving along Vice City’s coastline, or get their groove going in the streets of Los Santos with James Browns Funky President , have been left shocked as neither have been available in this remaster.

They’re not the only ones. Over twenty tracks have been removed from the game. There are 8 songs that have been removed in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. The list of missing songs from Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is much larger at 17 whereas no songs were removed from Grand Theft Auto 3. Fortunately though, we have modders in this world. In this instance, modders have done what modders are best at; improving our gaming experience. They have somehow managed to restore all of the removed songs from Grand Theft Auto: Vice City whilst also dealing with an issue in GTA III with menu sound effects. They’re doing your job for you Rockstar.

Why Were The Songs Removed From GTA Trilogy?

Obviously, Rockstar didn’t just remove the songs for the sake of it. The reason is because of licensing problems, where Rockstar no long have the rights to certain songs. Despite this coming as a shock to certain fans, mobile players will have known the pain when they loaded up their 2012 Android and iOS versions of Vice City. This edition also didn’t feature some of the iconic songs from the original, and neither did the subsequent PlayStation 3 and 4 versions.

This is undeniably frustrating, but as we’ve said beforehand, at least we have modders! This particular one was done by creator Junior_Dijr, just in case you want to thank him for his creation. Not only this, but there are supposed plans to restore all the radio stations and songs across all three games. It should be noted that this mod is only available for PC players, much to the disappointment of console gamers (including myself). Obviously, no one enjoys it when content is removed from their favourite game. Sadly though, the world of music licensing is cruel and expensive. Perhaps Rockstar didn’t pursue a renewal, or maybe the licence holders were persistent in their rejection. At the moment, we’ve really been left in the dark on what the exact reasoning is.

However, it isn’t all bad news. Rockstar have stated that all of the source music will now play in a much higher audio quality. It will now be available in 16bit 44hrz and 5.1 Surround Sound. So at least we’ve got that, I suppose! There’s always a positive to find somewhere. Which is why, despite its troubles, it’s definitely worth pre-ordering the physical copy when Rockstar release it. Hopefully, they will have sorted out all their problems by then, and we get the true GTA experience we deserve. Until then, we recommend sticking to GTA V.

Rockstar fans across the world are giddily anticipating the release of GTA: The Trilogy- Definitive Edition. With modern game designs and new hardware, we’re all excited to jump back into the lives of Claude, Tommy Vercetti and CJ. Who wouldn’t be? However, some gamers are slightly confused as to what order the trilogy should be played in. Arguments have been made that the variations between each game may unfortunately detract from the overall experience.

For those unfamiliar to the classic games, it could be quite appealing to play the games in chronological order. Subsequently, they would need to start with Vice City, then head on over to San Andreas, and finally conclude with GTA III. Travelling through the ages of the 3D era could be quite enticing to some. On the other hand, the latter editions have several mechanics not seen in the original GTA III. An example of this is that pilot planes and helicopters are available in Vice City but not GTA III. Similarly, San Andreas has gang warfare, swimming and bicycles which weren’t present in the previous instalments. Let’s have a little look at what we think would be better.

Beforehand, we must remind ourselves of the trailer just one more time. If you haven’t seen it, check it out down below:

Chronological Or Release Date: GTA Fans Debate

Firstly, let’s just clarify that all three games are classics within their own right. Whatever one you load up, you’re going to be having a fantastic time with it. Secondly, it should be noted that whilst certain characters may reappear in more than one instalment, the trilogy itself are not direct sequels to each other. How you play as Claude has no direct effect on the story line of CJ, and vice versa. So let’s not forget that.

With this in mind, let’s have a look at the earliest game in the trilogy, GTA III. Released on November 11, 2001, GTA III is considered to be one the greatest and most influential games of its generation. It transformed the open-world sandbox experience and took Rockstar games to another level in terms of media notoriety. As such, experienced GTA players should undoubtedly recognise this as the game to start with for the nostalgia experience alone.

Despite this, many fans have fallen under the spell of crime lord Tommy Vercetti, the protagonist of GTA: Vice City. Whilst Claude was fun to play as, his lack of voice speaking really bugged some fans. As such, Rockstar changed the game with this scarface-like character by employing none other than Goodfellas actor Ray Liotta. Henry Hill himself. What more could you ask for?

In addition to this, Vice City oozed out the style and charm of 1980’s Miami in such a way that has arguably been unmatched in the series thus far. Those sandy beaches, flashy supercars and flamboyant nightclubs are enough to draw anyone in. Unsuprisingly, players would want to skip the dreariness of Liberty City for this paradise. Who wouldn’t?

Lastly, we see players take on San Andreas. In many people’s opinions, this is when the GTA series peaked. Featuring a gut-wrenching narrative, improved customisation and updated gameplay features, it certainly has the evidence for that case to be made. Take control of Carl CJ Johnson, a former gangster who has been dragged back into a life of crime following the death of his mother. You’ll instantly feel welcomed by the Grove Street Gang, who provide compelling companionship that is rarely seen in modern games. It truly is Rockstar at its finest, so why would fans not want to jump straight in?

This debate could go on for years. Just know that whatever decision you make upon release, there certainly isn’t a wrong answer. Just enjoy them all.

Grand Theft Auto Trilogy- Everything We Know So Far

Six days prior to release, details are still slim and far between the Definitive Edition trilogy. Obviously, the game is going to have improved graphics which will make our favourite characters and settings look that much better. Moreover, here’s a quick overview of all the major changes to the trilogy outside of the visual design:

Improved controls. GTA Trilogy Definitive Edition now features a control setup described as being similar to GTA 5. Gone are the days of those stiiff driving and lacklustre shooting mechanics. Similarly, weapon and radio selection wheels are being updated as has the minimap system. Great news.

Increased resolution/framerate. Players on Xbox Series X and PS5 get to play these games at 4K 60 FPS. There’s no word on the resolution or frame rate for other platforms yet. All versions are getting higher-resolution textures, increased draw distances, improved lighting and better weather effects.

Instant mission restart. No more long periods of waiting, you can instantly restart any failed mission in all three games.

In terms of price, we know that the game isn’t going to be cheap. We know it will be around £55 on launch, but we can tell you know it’s going to be worth every penny! Unfortunately, we don’t have physical copies of the game available until December time.

Don’t wanna wait till release? Pick up a copy of GTA Sandreas right here! Similarly, see what these games have evolved into with Rockstars Grand Theft Auto V, with this awesome headset too!

GTA, formerly known as Grand Theft Auto, is one of the most popular gaming franchises ever to be created with it being amongst the top for several years. Consistently engaging the eyes and attention of gamers of all types with its releases of different variety including different story lines, different characters, different styles of missions, different dialogues and many more. Three of the most enjoyed classic GTA releases, those being Grand Theft Auto 3, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and most popular out of the three, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas are looking set to be released in a Trilogy structure with all three being remastered and available to play on newer gen platforms. This rumour has been around for several years but finally is looking as close as ever to being confirmed as Rockstar Games, the franchises parent company leak vital information that has got the Grand Theft Auto community going wild.

It seems the new Rockstar Launcher update from today has began preparing for the new remasters for the GTA Trilogy. pic.twitter.com/qgqu9aegdL

— Ben (@videotech_) October 5, 2021

Now you are probably thinking what you are looking at and how does it prove anything. Well, it shows that “Grand Theft Auto III – Unreal, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City – Unreal and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – Unreal”, will all be remastered with the Unreal Engine. As highlighted in the leaks, this shows that they are in the works, this all being in the Rockstar Launcher. This is all after rumours already being spread that Rockstar games will be using the Unreal engine to remaster the Trilogy which brings more reason to why this is more concrete as the dots continue connecting.

Grant Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition has been rated in Koreahttps://t.co/XL9AAhOC0E pic.twitter.com/af4rk2EfoP

This being another interesting source on this, showing that the game titled, “Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition”, which is the confirmed title for the trilogy, has already been rated in South Korea. Now if this doesn’t indicate the release being imminent then I’m not sure what else will!

#GTATrilogy Achievements have been discovered 👀

This leak shows the achievement icons that will feature on the game. These were leaked and uploaded to GTAForums. This means that we may be seeing updated achievements if true.

What is next to look out for from Grand Theft Auto?

Although these leaks are all not 100% until Rockstar officially release details, they do highly indicate that a Grand Theft Auto: Trilogy is being worked on and may even be the next release out of the Grand Theft Auto firm. As more features continue to be added onto GTA V, engaging the fans in many ways and with Grand Theft Auto VI being one of the most anticipated and looked out for releases, this suppresses the hype around that, drawing more attention towards giving the Grand Theft Auto community their favourite classics remastered. We are sure more leaks about the trilogy will continue to be leaked alongside leaks for the long awaited GTA VI. So, we suggest keeping on the lookout as the next Grand Theft Auto release could be a lot sooner than you think. Well… the next release after the already confirmed and announced Grand Theft Auto title, being Grand Theft Auto V, versions for PS5 and Xbox Series XIS being set to be released next march.

Rockstar Games have announced there are 3 GTA classic remasters in the works and will be available on ALL platforms

No, there’s still no news on GTA VI (despite how it was trending on Twitter due to this story). However, this is still something for fans to get excited about.

Rockstar Games are planning the release of three classics GTA games and it has been confirmed they will be available on all gaming platforms including Nintendo Switch.

The games that are being remastered are Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

GTA Remastered Trilogy

Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas were all originally released on PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360, with GTA III celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and the developers, followed with Vice City and San Andreas one and three years later.

Kotaku reports the three games are in development at Rockstar Dundee, previously known as Ruffian Games, and are in the final stages of development. It is unclear what the remastered elements will consist of, but it has been reported Rockstar Dundee are also working on GTA V remaster for the next-gen consoles that is coming out on November 11, so it can be expected they will be similar to that.

The remakes are being made for all platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, making these three games the first third-person GTA games available on a Nintendo console.

This follows on from the news that Take-Two, the GTA parent publisher, stated they also have 3 unannounced remasters in development, however, these GTA titles are not what they were hinting at as it was stated by CEO Strauss Zelnick that any GTA remasters would be announced by Rockstar, so more titles from Take-Two are still to be announced.
