See? I like Apex Legends and that won’t stop me roasting it over the spit at the prison barbecue, I yearn for true glitch equality! Heck, one time I accidentally tried to heal a bloke who wasn’t my teammate and if that isn’t proof there’s a little glitch in all of us, I don’t know what is!

Cargo Catastrophe! A bug was recently found featuring Pathfinder that allows players to ‘super launch’ themselves when grappling cargo bots. This unintentional mechanic was uncovered by one Redditor ‘‘Dirty_Skirty‘, finding out that while these launches generally end up being enough atomic force to yeet you too far from the inner circle, it can be creatively applied to if you’re precise enough.

“If you jump the second your grapple attaches, you’re guaranteed a perfectly vertical launch”.

And if you’ll entertain a little anecdote of mine, that time I tried healing an enemy player? My teammate was a Pathfinder! Chances are they realized I was a massive noob after that mishap cut their losses before I started shooting myself in the proverbial digital foot any harder.

Glitch Fixes? To my knowledge, none as far as Pathfinder goes, but the folks at Respawn did recently fix a glitch with Bloodhound (whomst we stan).

Glitch Tales… No, not that one: So sit down and strap on for three peculiar tales of glitchy-gaming goodness from your’s truly! And lucky for me, all these issues were neatly fixed with a tap of the retry button.

First up is on one of my Grounded replays of The Last of Us some nebulous time in pre-demic era! There was a section with some bad guys out in the snow that I decided for a specific way to eliminate: Run out back, punch one down, use it as a distraction, run back, stealth two other blokes and unload my clips into the last few guys hunting me like the randy cinephile I am! As I kept dying near that last end of my strategy, needless to say, I was repeating stuff more than Bo Burnham’s song of the same name, so on one particularly attempt, I ran up to a bloke, clotheslined his ass, and immediately shot RIGHT DOWN THE GROUND like:

Next on the chopping block is Sifu: One time while fighting Kuroki and FINALLY getting past her first phase after hours of retries and fiddling with the photo mode, I punched her so hard that when she backflipped away from me, she clean disappeared from the arena on me! Like,it’s bad enough she looks like a literal ghost half the time, but getting left on read by a boss? You think you know a girl. Ain’t that right Sensei Lawrence?

Before we get into the news, STORY TIME! I found out about this news from another journalist and his thumbnail included a perfectly harmless U-Rated innocent poster featuring all the Justice League heroes.

I didn’t know it was entirely family-friendly at first though, because on first glance, Superman looked like he… Well… I’ll try not to put any ideas in your head, but TELL ME THAT DOESN’T LOOK LIKE A… You know… A dinglehopper, as Ariel might say! A steak and two-Tackleberries! That thing that shares a name with the popular Blaxploitation-era crime film originally starring Richard Rountree in 1971! Or as Ben Shapiro would probably say, “the private D-word who’s a sex-machine to all the c-words”.

Back to the news! Dreams is a game designed by folks at Media Molecule (the makers of Little Big Planet) where players can make their own games and play the games of others. For any Avatar The Last Airbender fans reading, turns out gameplay for a Dreams-made Avatar game has released, that’s neat!

Besides rumors of a potential Superman game being in the works, Warner Bros hasn’t confirmed any plans for a AAA game in the same ballpark of production as say, the Marvel’s Avengers or Guardians of the Galaxy games (psst, which we have!).

So in this mini DC Superhero gaming drought, Redditteer u/TheRedProphett rolled up their sleeves one day and said “fine, I’ll do it myself” before sharing a video of his Justice League game project. You can view the video of the incomplete game footage here. While the environment and enemies are simple placeholder templates, giving Superman, Batman and Wonderwoman unique move-sets and stable physics for capes and clothes are extremely impressive for any lone game developer.

Rocksteady Games has, in the meantime, announced plans for the game Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, which will allegedly feature the classic superhero team as the antagonists to Harley Quinn’s Suicide Squad. In my headcanon, this move was inspired by one of the CEOs or developers seeing their kid play LEGO DC Super Villains one day via PS+ and thinking “oh damn, that would be a cool hook”!

Destiny 2 is a game with a lot of lore. Youtube channels like myelin games and My name is Byf make that clear right off the bat. And with a lot of lore comes a lot of characters, from the Kell of house light Misraaks (or Mithrax in human tongue), a fallen captain who regained faith in Humanity after our character saved them, to Mara Sov, Queen of the awoken and 2021’s winner of worst sister ever.

Over the last 2 weeks, fans have been voting on who their favourite character in the game was, and it has finally been confirmed that Saint 14 is the communities favourite character, beating out fellow crucible announcer lord Shax for the top spot.

Who is saint 14?

Saint 14 started out as a name we really only knew thanks to an item description back in destiny 1, with the helm of saint 14 exotic helmet for titans, which blinded enemies that entered the ward of dawn super when equipped. The helmet came back in destiny 2 with the added ability to cause the same disorientate effect while using the sentinel shield, an alternative super ability to ward of dawn. From in game lore you could gleam that Saint was one of the best titans out there, and was even considered to be the “son” of the speaker, who served as a spiritual leader to the city.

Unfortunately saint 14 disappeared at some point in the past, before the player character guardian woke up. As recounted from the helm of saint 14 lore tab:

SX: One of the new recruits from Old Russia I’ve had my eye on—entering the Crucible for the first time.

C6: Hey, maybe they’re the one. We’ll call ’em Crota’s End.

The next time the saint came up again probably came as a shock to some people. In The Curse of Osiris expansion for destiny 2, after completing the main story, players where tasked with completing little mini quests to unlock weapons as part of something referred to as “prophecy boxes”. After completing half of these quests, players would be tasked with entering the infinite forest and within you were able to discover the grave of saint 14, confirming he died at the hands of the Vex. The Vex constructed a shrine in honor of him in the simulated future of the infinite forest, which Saint had entered in the hopes of finding Osiris, who Bungie narrative designer Robert Brookes has confirmed Saint has a romantic relationship with.

So he’s dead right? Yeah so… during season of Dawn in 2019, we learned that Osiris had been developing a time machine, the sundial, to try to bring Saint back. It didn’t work, and the Sundial was seized by 3 Psion flayers, who were trying to use it to change the outcome of the Red War, destiny 2’s base campaign. During all of this, the player Guardian took it upon themselves to also go out and look for saint 14, and if possible to bring him back. And we did. Through killing the Vex Martyr Mind alongside Saint, we were able to change history and saint 14 was able to leave the endless forest. 

Once he was out, he moved to the towner, where now he feeds the pigeons and runs the trials of Osiris PVP mode. That is far from the end of saints story, the last year has seen him forced to confront his past decisions when we employed the aid of Misraaks in ending the endless night, and right now, when not running trials, Saint is off scouring the system to try to find Osiris who was kidnapped by Savathune, the hive god of deception.

The Poll

The poll began 2 weeks ago, started by Reddit user “The DankestMeatball”. The poll featured heavy hitters such as Gambit announcer the Drifter, Uldren Sov/The crow and The Exo Stranger. Many where expecting the late Cayde 6, who died during the Forsaken expansion, to win due to his enduring popularity in the fandom, but he went out in the final 3.

The final poll was a fight between lord Shax, the main crucible Announcer, and Saint 14, the Trials Of Osiris Crucible announcer (for those wondering, lord Saladin went out day 4. No-one likes saladin), with the russian pigeon lover coming out ontop.

Bungie have, through the “spoiler alert” sidearm, suggested that someone will die during the witchqueen expansion coming next february. While saint is an unlikely candidate to die due to his important roll in the game, but its not impossible.

A little backstory: The year is 2020. Pandemic soaring, anti-maskers in Hyde Park, quarantining at it’s height resulting in long periods of indoor isolation from the outside world… Then Doom Eternal and Animal Crossing: New Horizons release on the same day! This results in droves of memes and fanfictions depicting the wholesome cute Animal Crossing cast annihilating the alien hordes of hell while the viciously deadly Doomguy takes a little time out from his schedule to go fishing on an island resort. Needless to say, life was good!

Why This Title? Well, one Isaiah Colbert from Kotaku, recently wrote an article titled ‘Deleting my Ex’s Animal Crossing Save Data‘. I then started writing the article from the perspective of “let’s make fun of a hypothetical person who thinks deleting your ex’s Animal Crossing data on purpose is a morally justifiable position”… Because I found that exercise to be, in layman’s terms, funny as the realistically-implemented horse-bollocks in Red Dead Redemption 2 (psst, which we have)!!!

With that said, I haven’t read Isaiah’s article, for all I know, maybe his ex gave him the Switch with her save data and it’s a heartrending ballad about how wiping her Animal Crossing progress helped him become a strong independent gamer who don’t need no save data. Just putting that out there in case anyone from Tumblr or Twitter mobs ended up misreading this as an invitation to harass Isaiah, though let’s be honest, even if I did make that “invitation”, just… Please don’t. Dropping the airy-fairy tone now, don’t harass folks online. Even if it turns out it was in the tone of “oopsie, deleted my ex’s Animal Crossing, but I can’t help it, I’m a Libra”, just be the bigger man/woman/nonbinary and enjoy your life.

Amazon‘s foray into the world of gaming with New World has been off to a Rocky start!

First it’s removing character customization from full in-game servers, then gear clipping woes, a bug for kicking off players via messages, reducing number of players and more! Patches have fixed most of the main issues, including the most recent glitch, a method of invincibility received by moving the window of the game during play.This sparked a conversation from some (and by some, I mean Reddit and Twitter discourse) questioning whether the exploit was intentional due to Amazon being ‘client authoritative’, which isn’t exactly the most likely presumption. I watched CJ The X’s multi-hour long heavily cited deep dive into Jeff Bezos and reading Bo Burnham’s soul for filth, one of the big takeaways from that video is essentially “say what you will, but Bezos loves the customer the way a Fujoshi loves yaoi paddles“… I’m exaggerating, but not by much!

While you’re here, I’ve heard some compare New World to a ‘Colonialism simulator’, so if you want a story-based gaming experience that definitely touches on a perspective on colonialist takeover, have a butcher’s at our store for our special edition PS5 and PS4 versions of Greedfall.

On Friday, Amazon stated in an official forum site for New World that the game is ‘not client authoritative’. The statement then goes on to read as:

 ‘New World is entirely server based. At a high level the model is this: clients dispatch controller inputs to the server, and the server then checks that input for limits that might invalidate it, then if accepted uses it as an input to a character (“actor” is our internal name) within server memory’.

This ‘server based’ claim was also supported by community manager Luxendra, stating: ‘we do full physics detail for all such actions. Upon receiving the outcome, either hit or miss, the client will adjust its visual display to match what the server has determined. There are some client side tricks we use here to ‘stretch’ the animation while the client is waiting for the server answer, but the outcome is always based only on the server answer’… In lay terms ‘we do lots of checking and managing to make sure things run smoothly in-game, but at the end of the day, the server’s own analysis and outcome is king’. So, oddly enough, THANK GOD the machine didn’t pick up an issue this time round, because again, CJ’s infinite droves of galaxy-brained genius incoming, but it’s a very real possibility that cyborg transhumanism will indeed become a thing (and to a degree already is). Even Stephen Hawking and a bunch of other big-name scientists signed the Open Letter on Artificial Intelligence that essentially boiled down to “don’t fiddle too hard with Artificial Intelligence, or it may fiddle you back”… I’m exaggerating, but not by much!

As of yet, around 8% of New World players have reached max level and the game is sitting comfortably as one of Steam‘s Top 3 most played games.

The popular AR game has recently had its settings reversed back to what it was pre-covid times and players are disappointed.

Niantic Labs, the developers behind Pokemon GO, have now decreased their interaction distances for their Pokestops and gyms, causing a lot of distress for players online after pushing for the interaction distance to become permanent.

We all had to adapt when COVID-19 struck around the globe and affected so many of us, and this included things such as the games we would play. Pokemon GO, the AR game that revolves around travelling outside to be able to catch Pokemon, collect items at Pokestops and battle other players at Gyms, relied on constant interaction and the developers Niantic Labs had to change the way the game was operated.

Niantic introduced new interaction distances to allow players to still be able to use Pokemon GO at a safe distance and received praise for how much it improved the gameplay. However, since some countries are lessening in the number of cases, Niantic decided to decrease the interaction distance and even repealed the changes from countries such as the United States and New Zealand completely.

Players took to Twitter and Reddit to show their outrage at this decision, summarising why the interaction distances were the best changes to the game in years and how even though cases have dropped in some countries, COVID-19 is still very present and dangerous. They also said how the increased distances made it easier to interact with Gyms and eliminated issues like finicky positioning for GPS drift and allow players with health or accessibility issues to gain access to Gyms they couldn’t reach before.

Players even started a petition on Change.org to keep the increased interaction distances for Pokemon GO and it has reached over 130,000 signatures.

Hopefully, Niantic will listen to players that have started to boycott the game due to the reversal of the interaction distances, as some have been pushing for the interaction distances to stay permanent before they were changed back, so this reversal makes some feel like the developers are not listening to the players’ pleas.

A Pokémon fan spotted a unique and rare Pikachu car in their local car park and it’s in good time for the 25th anniversary.

Pokémon’s 25-year-long history has certainly seen much mind-blowing merchandise and incredible promotions…but who would’ve thought one of these would be a Pikachu car? Other merchandises has ranged from concerts to Pokémon TGC rare cards which are still as popular as it’s ever been. Even as times move on to the throughout generations of fans, it’s difficult to ignore what has been created in the late 1990s.

The first mainstream Pokémon video games were released in Japan in 1996, the franchise was flowing in an abundance of popularity when was released in the western countries in 1998, then released to other countries in 1999. The Pokemon TCG, video games, movies and anime were more than just amazing, in fact, incredible would be an understatement. They appealed to the younger generation but were also booming in popularity amongst adults as well, with the promotion reaching sky high as well.

MantaRayBoi, a user in Reddit, posted an image of an insane Pikachu-themed Volkswagen Beetle they happened to stroll across at their local petrol station. However, it’s known that back in 1998, only ten Pikachu-themed cars were made to promote the launch of the rising Pokemon franchise in the US.

Mewisme700, a youtuber and Reddit user, who is also a big Pokémon fan, actually owns this car themselves. Their particular one being sold by FAO Schwarz (An American toy company). Mewisme700 goes into detail on a youtube video about the history of the Pikachu Volkswagen Beetles, they explain that these cars were not officially registered through Nintendo were retailed for over £26,000. On top of that only two Pika Bugs had been sold, despite the fact, the company has planned to sell fifty. Which in turn, makes that specific care all the rarer than the authentic ten. From the start of their journey and over the passing years, these cars have been to promote different video games releases, movies, anniversaries and E3 1999. The Pika Bugs had an adorable little speaker that played Pikachu voice-lines.

While this is an extremely rare shot for a fan, it is most fitting to catch sight of  Pikachu themed car with the Pokémon’s 25th anniversary, it will be intruiging to see if there will be any more Pika Bugs created for future fans to purchase or perhaps more spotted in the coming years.

A Call of Duty player has discovered a surprising secret about the game’s emote animations which lead to a funny outcome during a finishing move.

One of the most popular and appreciated extras that have been added to the Call of Duty games are the emote animation gestures. Practically, they serve as a great way to communicate between team members, however, a Reddit user and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War fan, noticed the emotes can also have a funny outcome as well.

The user altimax98 discovered this when using the middle finger emote, which was released in the Call of Duty: Warzone Season 4 update for free in the season’s battle pass.

Just after an exceptional baseball bat kill, the player starts to do the middle finger gesture to add further insult to injury. However, as they continue to extend their middle finger, a player from the opposing team grabs them and stabs them from behind. Usually, a finishing move like that would stop the victim from completing their action beforehand, however, this Redditor discovered that is not the case when it comes to gestures.

The player continues to extend their middle finger as they are stabbed in the throat and then shot, acting as if none of it is happening. What makes it even funnier is the Call of Duty Clown skin the player is wearing.

This isn’t the only time a gesture has been used just before a finishing move and has been carried out right through the execution. Reddit user jross217 stated a similar scenario happened to him when playing Call of Duty: Warzone, where he used the cigar emote gesture that also came with the Season 4 update, just before an execution.

The fact this has been discovered opens up a huge range of endless possibilities that the players can get creative with when being faced with a finishing move.

Battlefield 1 is due for release in late October and is currently in a closed alpha mode which only a handful of people have access to. The rest of us are all waiting for the beta to release which could be sooner than you think.

The Battlefield community manager of Germany, Sebastian Moritz, has confirmed that the beta will be released “shortly after” gamescom. Moritz revealed this during a livestream with a Twitch streamer named CommanderKrieger.

The announcement was in German but was translated by Reddit and Twitter user, Patrick K.

Gamescom takes place from 17^th August to 21^st August so we could definitely see the beta before the beginning of September.

Battlefield insiders will get early access to the beta, up to three days before everyone else.

Just remember, this isn’t the completed game!
